:what:

The end of "Crawlspace" alone >>>>>>> most of the first four seasons of "Dexter". C'mon son. shyt was cool but it was never that show. The closest it came was season 4, then it fell off a cliff.

Fred.

up until that point, the crawlspace scene was probly the closest walt had come to facing his final endgame, and it was a wonderfully bizarre moment that i will never forget.

but man... i feel like dex walked that line like every other week, especially in season 2. crawlspace was like a errday thing for dexter. that character LIVED with his back against the wall.

dexter was so tense and unpredictable that you legit wondered how the show was gonna continue at certain points.:mindblown:

Breh, take the hype out of it, the first 2 seasons of Dexter was definitely >>>>>> first 2 seasons of Breaking Bad.

Season 3 and 4 are debatable, but Dexter to that point was still great. I will say that BB picked up tremendously starting season 3.

:patrice:

Season 1 "Dexter" > season 1 "BB"

Season 2 "Dexter" = season 2 "BB"

Season 3 "BB" > season 3 "Dexter"

Season 4 "BB" > season 4 "Dexter"

And after that it's obviously a landslide.

How can I take the hype out of it when "Dexter" was initially the bigger show? "BB" didn't massively blow up until the 5th season.

shyt man...."Dexter" had 3 seasons out before "BB" even started. It was solidified. The problem is by the time "BB" shifted into high gear, "Dexter" had already started to fall off. I dunno if you posted on SOHH, but I was in both show threads. Season 5-6 of "Dexter" were out the same time as season 3-4 of "BB", and at that point 1-4 was a distant memory and most people had moved on.

Breh I don't even feel right criticizing the early seasons of "Dexter" because any SOHH veterans will tell you I was a huge fan.

But at the same time, watching "BB" made me realize how sloppy some parts of "Dexter" were. Even the good seasons. Your mileage may vary but I never felt Dexter was in danger of getting caught, since Doakes died. They gave Dexter so many free passes and outs....just the way the show was written. Dude was a loner, no wife, kids, no close friends, nobody to answer to....they even made Rita dysfunctional as fukk early in the relationship, so he didn't have to answer to her either.

Dude leaves work early, is late, makes up trips and bounces for days at a time, dips in the middle of the night, etc. I can't lie, I loved it at the time but when I seen "BB" doing the same thing....but the guy has a wife, a kid, 2 jobs, a nosy ass sister in law....I was like :mindblown:

It's like "Dexter" was basically easy mode. I can't blame them for writing like that, because it's the path of least resistance. But I actually felt like Walt could get caught at any time, there was too many X factors. Jesse calling the house, the 2 cell phones, Walt completely disappearing in season 2, Skyler leaving at the end of season 2....Skyler realizing he's dealing drugs....calling the cops....it's like, c'mon man. Dexter was more or less floating through his entire series in comparison, and it became increasingly obvious as the show went on.

good points all around.

i also thought they gave dex too many outs towards the middle of the series. when you learned he was about to have a kid it really did make you think just how he was gonna be able to overcome it but it wasn't long before you realized the kid would play no factor at all. that muthafukka didn't have a nanny, he had a slave. always around no matter what time of the day to bail dex out. the way dex leaned on her, and the way the show leaned on her... was a huge slap in the face. why even introduce the kid then.

but before that... i'm talkin like season 2... with doakes.... man, that shyt was tense. plus you had lundy on his tail too.:whew:

Absolutely in compsrison to 5 and 6. Louis Green should've been the villain here without the Hannah bullshyt and mish mosh of the Russian, regardless of how great he was.

6 was awful, only thing it had going for it was Debra finding out about Dexter. And they threw some nonsense about her loving him. LaGuerta finding out was cool, but they already did the cop tries to take him down with Doakes. Its like they did 4 great seasons, and they did 4 seasons where you can tell they was trying to milk the cash cow. Season 5, 6, 7, 8 should have been condensed into 2 seasons or at least end it at season 7. Still one my favorite shows but towards the end they was on cruise control, doesn't help they had a whole bunch of female writers.

Breaking Bad will go down as the better show. But Dexter at its best was better, much better. The season with the Trinity Killer was some of the best tv I've ever seen. Breaking Bad never reached that level, but it stayed consistently great throughout its entire run. Something you can't say about Dexter.
