Dev says Xbox Series S is the reason for Gotham Knights and games to still be 30 FPS

I've been saying this forever. Series S means "cross gen" will be around all gen. MS pretty much throttled 3rd party development with this system existing. This isn't the first time a developer complained about the Series S either.

We saw how Digital Foundry said Halo Infinite runs better on Xbox One X than Xbox Series S. The only metric the Series S performed better than the One X version was with load times.

This sounds like a bullshyt excuse, they're claiming that the limitations of the series s prevents them from offering 60fps due to the multiplayer functions, but it's possible to have people playing multiplayer with different fps.

There's people playing cross play multiplayer on PCs with 120fps against consoles with 60fps.

The fortnite on switch runs at 30fps and can crossplay with consoles running 60fps.

I don't understand the logic.

I'm sure if most studios had unlimited resources like Epic they could figure this out. Fortnite is also not a very demanding game mechanically.

Look at what the release of GTA V on current did to last gen (PS4/Xbone). Players are getting sub 30 FPS now and shytty draw distances/LOD.

This shyt happens in Warzone and Apex Legends regularly over the last few years where issues would start coming up for isolated platforms after an update. If you play on Xbox you know about the input lag in Apex earlier this year that made the game almost unplayable for that platform.

Have some games running at 30 on Series S and 60 on X and never seen a problem. Now because Gotham Knights is at 30, it's Series S fault. :martin:

Let's not forget how bad Batman Arkham Knight was on PC, users with top pc's couldn't get steady 60 frames. Game got pulled out of the stores because of the bugs and shyt.

And yet the game will run a 30 fps on a weak pc and 60+ on a powerful one, why can't it be the same for consoles? sounds to me like they didn't left time to optimize the game so locked it at 30 and blamed MS.

That's exactly what happens in these cases.

We saw it happen with Dying Light 2 earlier this year and they had to fix it later down the road around March where they patched in a 60FPS mode for Series S.

There are other devs/companies who made it work with their games. Is it really that hard to accomplish? I'm willing to bet a patch will be released that will up the frame rate, but I'm not sure when.

Shouldn't they be developing with a top-down approach?
