maybe it is me, but if i was in an accident at 2:30 in the morning i would use a cell phone and call for help rather than try waking people up. not saying shooting a person is the way to answer your door, but i do not know this neighborhood. maybe the norm is gunfire in the middle of the night. lived in an area of Connecticut where my girlfriend and i would hear gunshots at night. needless to say answering the door at 2 AM was not going to happen. and yes i had a weapon back then. as readers we do not know if this homeowner had been robbed before, and if they had how many times. i just dont get why not using a cell phone.

So nobody has EVER knocked on someone's door before late asking to use their family phone for an emergency? Me and my sister had to do that before. Thank god it was the house of a black family.....smh. If the owner of the house felt uncomfortable opening the door, which is understandable, he could have called the cops. He didn't have to shoot her in the back of the head with a sawed off

Truth.

Gun culture and the vigilantism movement certainly plays a role. I used to post on a message board with people who I would consider part of this movement. They longed for somebody to come into their home to try to rob them so they could kill a "criminal" (undoubtedly black when pictured in their own mind). I see this sentiment expressed all over the internet as well, "good guys with guns" just itching to kill other human beings, "bad guys." That creates conditions that can lead to situations like this. The vigilantism movement has turned people from seeing guns as a reluctant last resort into seeing shooting humans as fun sport.

This is a sad story but there is so much information missing. I'm curious as to the whereabouts of her car. Can they confirm that she did indeed have a breakdown/accident? Did she know where she was and the type of people that live in those areas? A lot of holes in this case. I'm not defending this person for killing her but we need more info.
