I know we've had this back and forth before, but I hope you understand why everyone is saying next years class is weak. Folks like Chad Ford are saying its weak because the 2015 senior class has been outperformed the last few years by the 2016 class. All the best players in the country last year were underclassmen. Josh Jackson, Jayson Tatum, Harry Giles, Dennis Smith Jr., and DeAndre Ayton (sophomore). These are the names people named when aked who the best players in high school were last year. Ben Simmons (the presumptive #1 in the 2015 class) was considered only the 6th best player in high school.

These kids are all playing each other in AAU settings like the EYBL. Its one thing for the 2014 class to have been outshined by the 2013 class (with Wiggins, Parker, and Randle). They were older. It makes sense for the upperclassmen to be more developed and more highly touted. But if the class below you is dominating the AAU circuit, then that doesn't bode well for your class. 2014 showed they were as good as 2013 once they reached the same age. 2015 is getting outshined by kids younger than them. that doesn't look good.

I'm tracking on all that but I guarantee Ford will hype it and we will be talking about it just as we have the last gang of drafts...And teams will still appreciate their picks and hype them up..

more like you denying reality. Chad Ford and the rest of the nba draft heads don't have a reason to call an upcoming class weak. if anything they get more eyeballs the more they hype these kids. its not in Chad Ford's interest to declare and upcoming draft class weak if he wants more readers.

Nah, they're not. There will always be more potential stars to draft... the question is... how long is the leash. If you rebuild as a garbage bottom feeder for 5 or 6 years... guys start coming off rookie deals, and people lose their jobs.

They could fukk around next year and draft Ben Simmons and Jamal Murray. Take Depaula or Paige late... suddenly the roster feels rounded out.

But then the roster still has a age a little before they'll be competitive. With an infinite leash, you could just keep doing this until you land on three studs.

maybe? but 3 great drafts in a row are RARE. talent doesn't come into the league in drips. it usually comes in waves.

just look at how talent concentrates in high school classes over the last decade:

2002: Melo, Bosh, Amare
2003: LeBron, CP3
2004: Dwight, Aldridge
2005: no "stars"
2006: Durant, Westbrook, Curry
2007: Rose, Griffin, Harden, Love
2008: George (stayed 2 years), Klay (stayed 3 years), Lillard (stayed 4 years)
2009: Wall, Cousins
2010: Irving
2011: Davis
2012: no "stars"

2006 and 2007 were probably the 2 best years of the last decade when it comes to producing superstar level talent. 2002-2004 were also great in producing SUPERSTAR talent. 2008 was average. 2005 and 2012 have been terrible. 2009, 2010, 2011 have been below average.

I think 2013 and 2014 are gonna be like 2006 and 2007. Wiggins, Parker, and Randle will be stars from the 2013 class. and Towns, Okafor, Russell, and Mudiay will be stars from the 2014 class.

these nikkas been playing the EYBL circuit for years. they been getting showed up by the 2016 and 2017 classes,. maybe you don't know who is who. but most folks know who they are already. only ben simmons is a star level player. maybe one other guy emerges like Russell this year. but you're not all of sudden gonna get 4-5 studs when they haven't done anything to this point to warrant such hype.

the next generation of stars are coming in the 2017 draft. Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith Jr. Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum. these are the guys that have dominated AAU the last 2 years. NOT anyone from the 2015 class.
