Not sure what you're getting at but we're not dumb. I know the difference between new content being greyed out and previous content being locked out.
If DLC for Battlefield came out and because of that, you can't play Rush anymore unlesss you upgrade, wouldn't you say that's locking out content?? It was there before. When new DLC comes out in other games, old content isn't removed. Map packs in virtually every shooter doesn't effectively remove some old maps and put them away in a new DLC playlist. Nobody is complaining they couldn't get TTK content, they were complaining that the stuff they had access to day one was no longer there.
Imagine if Bloodborne's expansion DLC made it so that it removed some old areas and bosses from the original game.. people would be like?

You think it's dumb shyt but me personally, I think it's fukked you when a game releases and purposely leaves out half the game, then charges another 40$ for the rest of the game.
It's more fukked up when they cut you off from accessing parts of the game till you forked over that 40$.

You're ignoring basically everything brought forth and creating some argument about people wanting TTK content for free which is not the point of contention. If the content was playable before but now said content is switched to only work if you have DLC, that's a lockout.

Saying "other games do it" is disingenuous. I think Destiny didn't quite work like any other MP game and it's progression wasn't communicated properly because it's quite confusing.

You couldnt play any of the weekly and daily shyt. You could only play missions with the difficulty set to easy, so you couldn't get good loot. Pvp had two game modes.
The shyt was basically a demo.
Nah apparently everyone online was just making this up and no one really peeped what was going on.
Since when couldn't you do the Weekly shyt if you have the content? They would add DLC strikes to the Weekly Playlist and if you didn't have it then you couldn't play it.
Bungie started putting the DLC strikes as the weekly mission a lot more, but honestly if you were playing the base game when TKK dropped you weren't serious about leveling shyt up anyway

Even if the old strike wasn't the daily, you could still adjust the difficulty, if you bought the dlc.

how can you expect to get "good loot" up to year 2 levels without paying for the dlc moving forward.

its kindve unreasonable for you to expect to get "good loot" when if you dont even get the dlc you leveling up wouldnt amount to be half as powerful as someone with the dlc and the ability to play things that came with the dlc

I stopped closely following games prerelease when I was 10I like it so I don't mind spending on it, if $40 is that big of a deal to you then you need to be focusing on other shyt. I'm good with what I got for the price

I'm talking about playing the game a week before the dlc released, then turning it on after the update and find that alot of the fun shyt that I was just doing, was locked out till I bought the dlc. I could only play missions on easy. Pvp multiplayer had two game modes when I was just playing the full experience a week ago.

40$ is not a big deal, you don't get the point.
Dlc released bundled with the game for 60$ and you get everything with that. Destiny sold for about 40$ at that point, so the extra dlc content cost 20$ That's a great deal for a great game.
However, if you bought the game early like me, for 60$ then you had to pay an extra 40$ for the new content as well as to unlock portions of the old content. I paid 100$ for a game that cost 60$.

TTK change the way the game functioned in numerous ways including how much more powerful your character can be
how could you play a mission on hard...when hard for a person with the dlc at new light levels is literally double as powerful as you
you cant go into the nightfall or whatever you wanted to...whether you had the dlc or not if you werent at a certain light level
if i took a 270 character and tried to start a nightfall...or a 200 character and tried to run vanguard strikes at the new lightlevel id get blocked from doing so
in vanilla destiny you couldnt run hard missions if you were underleveled...
i honestly dont get the big deal
the "full experience" of crucible in year one was team deathmatch and control in 6 vs 6 game modes....and salvage and skirmish in 3 vs 3 game modes....and free for all ...they gave you all of those things from year one multiplayer in 3 game modes combining them together
you literally are doing everything you could do in year 1.....from vanilla destiny.
