I don't care about the ownership structure, they have proven through their coverage of some of our biggest conflicts and their heavy handed reporting on the Global South that they are not the liberal darlings some try to make them out to be, especially under the last few editors. They are just as susceptible to influence from their sources/powerful entities and the political climate as any other news outlet (see how they've thrown Assange under the bus/destroyed Snowden HD for British intelligence/China fearmongering, etc.). Some of my biggest issues with them - pushing for direct NATO involvement/WW3 in Ukraine, one-sided neoliberal reporting of HOA conflicts, imperialist coverage of Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela, Eritrea, championing Iraq War, whitewashing Israeli apartheid state. Two of most disgusting headlines you will ever read are courtesy of the "independently owned" Guardian.

I understand that part. But you're telling me that the US-backed Afghani government didn't even secure more rights for women outside of the zones under the authority of warlords?
For example, the suddenly lost education prospects the women who are killing themselves are talking about in OP's article, don't they come from the American influence?
You honestly think you can reduce the entirety of the American-backed policy in Afghanistan to local tribal law?
