Man he was smart. Going hard all the time is cool, but what sense does that make if you're making what is essentially chump change in terms of league salaries and you're one of the better players in the league?

Teams will cut players in an instant and unlike the NBA, salaries are not guaranteed... NFL salaries are nowhere near as high as basketball salaries and the NFL is a much more violent game. Desean Jackson is what, 185 lbs getting paid in the hundreds of thousands to take hits by some monsters. It's supposed to be about the 'love of the game' and loyalty when it comes to the players, but for the owners, it's alright to be all about business when they cut these players or trade them away. Who is going to take care of Desean if he had a career-ending hit? The owner would have simply said how sorry he felt and cut that negro.

i guess im just cut from a different cloth that all of you. i was raised to go hard at all times in whatever you choose to do .

yall sound like a bunch of cutlers

if desean would have balled his ass off and tried, he could have gotten an even bigger contract. now there is still risk he gets hurt, and his attitude is questioned.

imo he fukked up.

So do you think you were raised with intelligent guidelines "go hard at all times"...?

Yep, even if it was the next year.

DeSean is a one dimensional diva, he can take a hike for all i`m concerned.

I understand thinkin that before the game like "fuk these nikkas"....but once the whistle blows how are u even thinking about your damn contract and how you need to be careful:what

Simply put, he doesn't love the game.

That's not a sin or anything, it's actually a lot more common than you`d think in sports, but it still speaks to his character as a player. It's a job to him. not a passion.

Some of you guys look at sports like it's the rap game, straight loser mentality.

What about wanting to be the best? What about competing to win a championship?

I wonder if Victor Cruz is gonna take it easy because he isn't getting paid a fat contract? Nah, because he actually loves the game.

He is thinking about not getting injured and ruining his career. It has nothing to do with passion or love for the game. The same game that these dudes love will flush you down the toilet after one injury and the same fans you supposed to work hard for will boo you after one bad game. It is a business, no matter if they love the game or not. Does Drew Brees not love the game because he held out for a while? Do any of these players who go to the team with the highest offer sheet rather then a team in need of them the most not care about the game?

More power to Victor or anybody else that just loves the game. However what happens if God forbid, Victor blows out his knee and can't comeback? Is love of the game gonna pay his bills for the rest of his life?

I can't blame any football player who holds out or holds back. The game is too dirty on and off the field. Teams won't hesitate to hold back on that paper if a guy isn't performing or gets hurt yet players are supposed to just be "good soldiers" and go out there and bust their ass for peanuts. :childplease:. I am not mad at the NFL salary strucure as I believe it keeps guys from gettin fat and lazy, for the most part. I can't get mad at players for looking out for themselves though. nikkas need to leave all that romantic "Rudy"/"Hoosiers" shyt in the movies and recognize that this is a business. You gonna give your all to your job if you feel like you are being shortchanged? Now just imagine if your job involved risking your physical well-being.

This dude isn't talking about holding out though, he is talking about going half-way in the middle of a game.

That's the type of shyt that lets you know he doesn't love the game. Because once you're out there you gotta give it your all because you want to help your team win. That shows you his focus is more on money that winning and being a great player.

Anyone co-signing a player giving a half-ass effort, I don't know man, just not feeling that

To the bolded, I prefer the player just doesn't play if he is that concerned with his money.

And they don't hold back money if the player isn't performing, there are plenty of guys getting fat off deals when they suck, look at Albert Haynesworth, sure teams cut him but he was still getting his guaranteed dough.

CJ2K played like garbage last year by his standards, he didn't have to give back his 2011 money.

You gotta stop with that, just cause the NFL isn't as moronic as NBA/MLB (guaranteed deals no matter what) doesn't mean they're sending the repo men to your house either
