He has fukked up ligaments, the knee doesn't get better just because dude is lifting, maybe more muscle around it but that's it(It's good, but never great or magically makes the knee better than before).

I'm not gonna act like I'm some kind of expert but this what AP said about his knee:
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) said the left knee he injured last December requiring major surgery and dedicated rehabilitation is stronger now than if he wouldn't have had surgery. "I feel (the knee) is better than it was last year," Peterson said. "With that being said, I know that I've got a little ways to go to get to where I want to be."
and the espn article:

"It depends on the questions he has, but the one (piece) of advice I can give him is have your mind set on what you want to accomplish and go after it," Peterson said. "After four months ... the (knee ligaments) are there, it's stable, it's strong ... don't back down anything. Because I know around that time my knee was still a little sore too but the ligament was strong and almost stronger than the right side, so you can't be scared to challenge it and do different things thinking you are going to damage it."

and my fave part:

"It's funny, I haven't talked to him since that last time I saw him, but I just feel it and I can sit here and say I know he's going to come back better than he was before."

So many misinformed opinions in here..... There's honestly too many of y'all to quote, but I'll make the main point... I don't know where you guys are getting your timelines from for your 'guessimates' in terms of how long he should sit out, but there's absolutely nothing that extra 'rest' beyond the allotted 8-12 months that's been handed down by the doctor, could do for Rose in regards to strengthening his knee more; in fact, it could have the exact opposite effect if he sat out longer than prescribed because his knee wouldn't be used to the physical nature of being on the basketball court in an actual NBA game.....

I'm sick of people here and pretty much everywhere, talking about that he should sit out for the entire year as if we're operating on a timeline in the 1990's. It makes no sense, and all you would have to do is do a little research before posting (i.e. look at what the doctor said who did the operation on Rose).

man on :hamster: I have been saying time and time again, that dude would come back by xmas or new years. I doubt that is gonna happen, but I do believe dude will be back sometime in january still. and that he would be stronger than ever because of how much medical science has improved when it comes to these type of injuries. back when danny manning and ron harper were blowing out knees, it was basically a death sentence as far as your playing style goes, but not anymore.

and sitting him for the year is dumb as well. if he's cleared to play, you best believe the medical staff is 150% sure his knee is good to go. cuz neither the bulls or the medical staff is gonna take the risk of putting him out there in the 1st year of a MAX deal knowing there's doubt regarding his health. shutting him down for the season ain't gonna do shyt but waste time. unless u think we can get a top draft pick for tanking. personally,I hate that idea.

no way he will be planting and jumping like he used to on that leg at all this season....and without his athleticism/quickness....what good is he?:usure:

nikkas didnt think Adrian Peterson would be back this year either

And this would be the only feasible reason for sitting Rose -- if you're in the "getting a good draft pick" camp -- not the, "OMG, HIS KNEE IS GONNA EXPLODE CUZ HE COMIN BACK DIS SEAZON" camp, but even still, if the Bulls were planning on pulling a tank job, the front office would've dismantled the core group of guys in the off-season; there would've been plenty of suitors for guys like Deng, Noah, and Gibson; however, as currently constructed, it's impossible to have those quality of players and attempt to pull a full fledged tank job (not to mention they have a coach like Thibs who don't know how not to demand the most of his players).

all thats fine and well...but the doctor...you and/or me dont know how roses knee will feel...its a crap shoot...and to be honest your opinion is no more informed than any one elses...:krs:

he could be better served with sitting out longer...he could be better off playing sooner...point is....NOBODY knows

its not like they would play him 40 minutes off the bat. they'd probably play him 10 minutes a piece in the 1st and 3rd quarter.

or bench at the start when the game is at its most violent.. and wait till he plays against a second rate PG just to get the groove :upsetfavre:

just 2-3 games dude.. its usually the procedure anyway

And you & I could both get shot during the exact same time of 13:37. Really? the "nobody really knows" card ?

Look, I'll break it down to you as simply as I can. What this comes down to is cred·i·bil·i·ty, and I'd put my stock into someone who has 1. performed this procedure several times over on others 2. was able to look at Roses' knee & due to being an expert in his field (take the hint), he was able to determine the knees' overall health and the damaged that occurred during the injury 3. Is actually overseeing Roses' rehab as well as helped to develop the regimen that he's currently doing in order to strengthen the knee by a step-by-step process 4. He's in constant communication with Rose asking him how he feels during this recovery, etc....

All of those points is the reason why I'd take my chances by siding with the doctor (who performed the damn surgery) in any instance over some nikkas in the fukkin' Coli currently playing the guessing game . Oh yeah, Rose went to see the much heralded Dr. Andrews for a second opinion, and he put him on the same damn timeline .
