He’s going to be 39 in October. He was 31 or 32 when he got his first big fight against Tyson Fury.

So his window was small. He didn’t really have the option to turn down big fights. He should’ve fought Joshua when he had the chance.
Who’s this Joshua dude ?

As someone who doesn't follow boxing , why would that be the end of Deontay's carreer?
Deontay never learned or cared to prefect the basics. Most of his fights he was getting getting out boxed until his power saved him. He dodge top guys and thought he caught Tyson Fury on a downward slope but ended up getting out boxed in all three fights. His defense is nearly non existent and he is in the position where he has to face the top guys.

Deontay Wilder is 38, nearly 39 with 15 years of heavyweight boxing history and punch resistance basically gone at this point.

Older fighter who risks it for knockouts, outweighed by nearly 70 lbs. going up against one of if not the hardest hitter in boxing today.

It was a send off fight from the start practically. 90% of the greats have done this. Win and retire gloriously or move on respectfully.
