I doubt that would be the reason cause the major US boxers were mostly black even in the 70s or 90s and boxing was big back in those decades.
I just can't comprehend how golf is more interesting and entertaining to people than boxing or any combat sport. But hey maybe that's just me

Boxing stopped being big in the mid 80s qhen the promoters pulled it off broadcast tv and went to the premium /ppv model.

That said in the 80s it was arguably becoming a niche sport, it was niche in the 90s and since.

The ascent of the nba and football and baseball getting real money probably helped push it to that level. Used to be boxers really got paid, while other atletes had to work two jobs.

How the hell is fukking golf more popular than boxing? :gucci:
Some flabby, old dudes trying to put a ball in holes with a stick vs 2 guys putting it all on the line trying to beat the hell each other. Am I missing something?
I believe you but... :hhh:

:francis:

Forgot to mention cycling, arguably dudes like bradley wiggins is bigger than AJ in notoriety in the UK going back a few years until he retired :yeshrug: I agree though, shyt is pathetic :scust:

Golf is a money sport, they get big money and there's a lot of betting that goes on too. I like boxing better than Golf but I bet much more heavily on Golf than boxing because of the odds, the odds in golf are much higher than a fight between 2 people. That money creates a lot of interest. I've made some big money from golf, 1000's, on boxing only really 100's. Things are always more interesting when you have money on it lol, as a kid I never really was that into golf, but betting on it and watching it grew to appreciate it more and the skill. Always loved boxing though and probably my favourite sport overall.

Haymon isn't a promoter, remember, and his fighters are supposed to be "free agents". You sound like a stan in here so I'd prefer to engage with those who I actually quote to avoid pointless back and forths.
Do you truly think wilder is scared of AJ ? Or is this business related ? I can’t believe Wilder is scared of AJ or vice versa . It’s just jockeying for position

Scared is a strong word. But I think if a fighter REALLY wants a fight it'll get made, especially if it's a star with leverage
Look what Canelo is doing despite what Oscar/DAZN wants him to do. I'm sure TR would rather Teofimo to milk his new belt for a couple of defenses but he demanded Loma immediately. Etc
The "listen to my team" stuff is a convenient excuse now days. But I'm saying all this as a person that thought the reported DAZN offer was fair. It's possible Wilder really did think it was trash for whatever reason
