I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I'm getting HBOMax, but I feel guilty in some sort of way, because I feel like I'm contributing to the death of cinema, which I also don't want. I would go back to the cinema once the COVID cases drop, because there's movies that I would love to the see in the cinema like Godzilla vs. Kong and there's some like Space Jam 2 that I'm kind of iffy about and would rather stay at home and watch. I guess what I'm trying to say is: I have mixed feelings about it.

I know they have the final call in the contract but it was still shytty of WB to not notify everyone before they made the announcement.

my hbo max is free.... comcast has it for free.. at&t its free and others. but i understand what you're saying.. but thats a problem they admitted to having, they are not ALL paying subscriptions

i know soul isnt premier access.. it was til mulan didnt do the numbers they expected

Your HBO Max isn't "free". It's included in the package deal you have with Comcast, but you still PAY a monthly bill for Comcast.... so you are indeed paying something. And the problem Warner Media has isn't so much new movies or exclusive shyt on HBO Max, because they have their own original shows and movies already there. The problem is reestablishing and renewing fixed contracts, because someone like Denzel is expected extra bonus money per box office gross. It's reported that Marvel is taking the initiative of restructuring all the actors that are signed onto future films contracts as we speak so they won't have that same problem.

I feel people are over reacting over this so-called "death of cinema" talk that's hyped up by the reactionary media. For over 120 years of the EXISTENCE of cinema, there's always been talk about something being the "death of cinema". It's survived the Spanish Flu which was a lot worse than what we got going on. It survived the emergence of television which was said was going to "kill cinema" because people are going to stay home watching TV than going to the theaters. It survived the video/VHS/DVD eras because it was thought that the industry was going to stop putting movies into theaters and straight to video which they were wrong. They were already claiming the streaming era was going to kill it before the pandemic, and now we have this. The truth is movies is going to survive, it's going to be struck a heavy blow where big chains would go bankrupt, but as always new chains emerges from that rubble. It happens all the time. And eventually what's going to bring movies back in a big way into theaters where everyone is going to rush to see it is that one MARQUEE film that's a game changer. For example, STAR WARS was that type of film during a decade where the movie theaters were going out of business. I could predict some Marvel film or James Cameron finally releases AVATAR 2 in 3-D which would force people to go see it only in theaters that'll bring things back to fold. Or a gradual growth of comfort once the pandemic is well over.

So what I am saying, there's no need to feel guilty, especially since WB is still having ALL OF THEIR FILMS into theaters regardless.

arguing semantics but.. since my cable bill didnt increase and i know have hbo max then its free..
they dont have the original content to match disney thats why disney could announce 100 new shows and not worry about the box office..

disney restructuring contracts is a defense move AFTER the warner move. they are reacting
and an actor isnt always expected to get money off the gross thats done because they cant afford to pay them upfront

What are you talking about? HBO Max ALREADY has more ORIGINAL PROGRAMS than Disney Plus right now. And yes, Disney restructuring the contract is indeed in response to Warner media not being transparent, the same way Warner Media announced WW84 and eventually all their cinematic features to HBO Max due to the failure of Mulan's premier access fee. Either way, everyone who's mad at Warner media is going to be cool once their contracts are remodeled to their compromised liking.

Obviously, comcast and Warner Bros made a deal with each other in order for your HBO max to be free. I ain't worried about either pockets.

You can go to the theaters if you want to. Godzilla vs. Kong is likely out in the Summer. Cases will likely be lower, you can get the vaccine, you can go.. but I understand if you don't want to.

We all have an option with this to go or not go. And they can't push these back any further. 2022 is a whole new slate of movies like The Batman coming out etc..
