Being able to experience the future at the same time as the present does affect their present state, but it doesn't affect the past. It's more like they experience the future visions as flashbacks (which are really flashforwards) because the brain registers them as memories, something you remember from the future.

i don't see how that's not the same thing. Like in the movie her present self remembers the "flash forward" memory of getting the Chinese dudes number and the words she said to him. That's the only reason she knew what to say to him in the present. Because of the flash forward. That's how it's presented anyway

You're thinking in the wrong direction. In the past she started seeing her future and acted accordingly, that's different from her future self changing the past completely. Her future's past wasn't changed because they were both happening simultaneously in her experience.

And she started getting the visions the moment she started to learn the language. It was a gradual process but as soon as a person starts "seeing" it, the ability to see through time started to develop within her. The moment that development started would be the zero point.
