She should have been - I think he says being the mother of his kid is the only thing that saved her. Nicky Santoro should have been in one much earlier too, but it would have been like asking Sam to cut out his own heart and chop off his right hand.

I grew to love Jackie Brown after the fact - I went to see it at the cinema, drunk, when it first came out - fell asleep about halfway through and woke up 3/4's of the way through. I'd been expecting 'Pulp Fiction' levels of fukkery, but they never appeared,
To this day, one of my all time favourite soundtracks.
