Once again, I know that you hate the Democratic Party. That's irrelevant. Also, "pedantic dork sh!t" is your stupid babble claiming that Dems aren't center-left when they are.
You never pointed to how except “they are essentially the same,” when they aren’t. :heh:

Developed nations have state pensions, elderly housing, universal healthcare. The Dems ask for none of that. “Essentially the same.” :heh:

Misread? I wasn't responding to No1. Also, once again, I don't care about what either him or you are saying.

When Obamacare was passed they could have passed a public option but declined to do it.
Democrats had two months with a 60-vote super-majority in theory, but in practice, they had to reckon with the downsides of being a "big tent" party. They had to contend with the Blue Dog coalition in the House and senators like Lieberman and Nelson in the Senate, who were ready to sink the entire bill to kill the public option. I don't know why we have to be dishonest about this.

Passing the public option wasn't that simple unfortunately. The fear was that those who stayed on employee sponsored insurance rather than being insured through the public market place would have to absorb the costs of those who choose to leave. Which would ultimately force them to the public marketplace out of necessity because the government couldn't regulate caps on premiums and deductibles of private insurers.

This would potentially kill a lot of health insurers - which doesn't sound like a bad thing on the surface - but a lot of those insurers makeup large portions of retirement/pension portfolios for the boomers and older. It's a very similar issue to letting US automakers fail, which is why the government didn't.

What the hell are you talking about?

Social Security is literally a state pension and it was created by Democrats. The US has plenty elder housing communities. Also, for the last time, the US would have universal healthcare if it weren't for conservatives and Republicans.

Your statements are just baffling.

Go back and re-read @No1’s post.

No he didn’t

We know this because he let the healthcare industry write the bill and never brought it up in negotiations.
That's not exactly true, both he and his Health Services Secretary were under constant fire for comments they made that were perceived to be downplaying the public option. Both made comments and attempted to defend the fact that a public option was only a part of the ACA.

They ultimately didn't want the whole of the ACA to get tanked because of a public option, they figured it could be amended later. Now a case can definitely be made for how wise\unwise that thinking was but to say Obama flat out didn't want the public option wouldn't be true.

its not dishonest

What you are essentially saying is the Dems didn’t want the public option. The dishonest thing is people not wanting to admit that.

I’m not playing the bait and switch game that a lot of you want to believe. That man did not fight for the public option because he ain’t want it

No, I don't care about what either of you are saying.
You obviously do because you quoted me when I didn’t even bother addressing you. Your entire “beef” is that I supposedly hate Democrats but you’re so ignorant that you would stick your head in the sand rather than do a modicum of research. Like seriously, you’re lucky as fukk I wasn’t your proctor for whatever political science classes you may have taken because I would’ve failed you for lying.

Like it’s 101 knowledge that the Democratic Party had no intention of seriously adding in a public option or pursuing universal healthcare. You can make any excuse for it that you want but there’s not a graduate school professor who would let you get off saying that they wanted to do it.
