Delta flight attendants aren't doing a job worth 250k/year, it doesn't matter if they been there 100 years. I'm for people getting paid fairly, but cmon.
That being said, this is Delta's fault. If they put her on that salary, they can't then use ageism to try and kick her out. It's their fault for offering her that salary. If she's able to do the job, she should be allowed to keep doing it.

They’re probably wrong but she should have been gone.

Who wants to work at 79?

My aunt worked as a manager at an old peoples' home, she said a lot of folks' health SERIOUSLY degraded the moment they retired. Like, just took a downward trajectory towards a home in just the first few years. You're fine if you have passionate hobbies or some sort of mission in life, but if your work is all you got, when you lose that you don't have much to live for anymore.

She's been working in airplanes since 1962. Imagine the things she's seen in her life. Gotta be hard to step away from.

Disagree with the way they fired her I hope she gets a nice settlement. My thing is don't pay her that much to begin with or cap the wages after a certain point. On the other hand it's an issue because delta could have hired 4 other young people for what she was making. If you getting fired after the age of retirement i don't feel sorry for you.

She earned it by staying so long

I work with a 75 year old, he told me he’s not retiring because he’ll just die staying home everyday.

I notice some people are saying she should've been retired anyway but...why?

A lot of older people feel their work is what's keeping them going/motivated and in some cases, that's actually true. If she's healthy and in good enough physical condition to carry out her duties, why should she retire? Being a flight attendant for damn near 60 years means she's already "seen the world" or whatever it is people hope to do in retirement so that's out. She loved her job and from the many notes, gifts and letters she's apparently received over the years, clearly she was good at it. If she had any family her job would've allowed her to visit them anywhere in the world WHILE working. So again, why retire?

They’re probably wrong but she should have been gone.

Who wants to work at 79?

Clearly this lady.

She earned it because Delta failed to cap her income. It’s clear that they had a pay structure that could lead to people being paid way too much relative to the job she was doing. That’s Deltas fault and they should pay her, still a crazy salary for a flight attendant.

I believe this. It's more about her having something to do. I don't think she knows what to do after she retires, and she's probably scared to retire because what will she have to look forward to other than getting older and closer to death?

If they didn't want flight attendants making 250k couldn't they have put a limit in their salary ?

I could see them adverising to potential flight attendants that some FAs make as high as 250k to get them to apply. So its jacked up to be hostile to the actual employee making that
