Discovery Zone. Good memories as a kid.

I heard they recently opened in Ohio...

From what was also mentioned, Circuit City, Caldor, KB Toys (:banderas:) and Sam Goody. My old local video rental store (Video Smart Laser).

Birthed the department stores nowadays due to Rona:heh:

When this place died, the soul of the gaming industry died with it.

When this place was around it was like the meeting of all the bosses when it came down to computers. From nerds to regular consumers that want to be techies came together like the Player's Ball Outkast video. Sadly when this place died, so did the conception of computers because it weeded out the idiots :camby:

I actually shopped at a Toys R Us during it's last days and took some pictures. One of those pictures really spoke volumes to the end of innocence in this country with this company dying:

Service Merchandise

Montgomery Ward

K&B Toys

McRae's (sold off and rebranded as Belk) they had better inventory as McRae's though.

Toys R Us

Bonanza's (it was a buffet style steakhouse that my parents use to take me to a lot in late 80s and early 90s before they went out of business in my area)

Western Sizzlin' (another restaurant, it's still a few of them around in other states but the ones around my way went out of business)

K-Mart

Sears

The rise of Amazon, the Internet, and a changing consumer has kinda been the death of those brick and mortar department stores most of us grew up with. I remember when those shopping malls were the place to be, you could go buy clothes and get fresh, meet honeys, eat, and even get furniture and home items. Now a lot of them look like abandoned ghost towns especially in comparison to 30 years ago when I was kid. I remember I use to live to get the Christmas catalogue from Toys R Us and Sears back in the day to circle the items I wanted to give to mom and dad so they could inform Santa Claus.
