I honestly think a lot of folks don't like their mom
But obviously you get looked at funny for saying that, especially in the black community.
She could really be a shytty mom but people say "she raised you, how can you hate her?"

My mother was crazy and I resented her behavior towards my father. But I started to see the same patterns in me. I resent her but I could never hate her. She's always been there for me as a cushion despite other people walking in and out of my life.

YEAH, I know a man who had a dark skinned overweight mother, and he hated fat women. He loved his mother, but had a very strong dislike for overweight women.
They date women that are the total opposite of their mother. They talk horribly about black women on Twitter. It's like... There has to be a connection.
But I don't think these men can admit it to themselves let alone outside. I think OP is moving in the right direction by coming to terms with his feelings.
