Imma ps3 head, but I will admit that it is dissaponting to see that none of our exclusives sell as much as halo. It's like they unfocused.

Well I'm sorry to break this to you, but pretty much EVERY xbox game sells better than the BEST ps3 games. Halo/Gears/ either one of those sold more than Killzone 3 + Resistance 3 + LBP2+ twisted Metal black + Infamous 1 & 2 + Ratchet & Clank + Uncharted 3 combined

To put it in perspective for you, Forza 4 sold just under 600,000 copies day one
Little Big Planet 1 on the otherhand is/was regarded as the most innovative (possibly) game ever created. All the possibilities
So how did that game do since its this MONSTER in da game?

After its memorable reveal at GDC 2007, the original LittleBigPlanet launched in October 2008 with sales of only 215,000 units. By the end of November 2008, total sales had reached 356,000 units.

The NPD Group has revealed that sales of 353,000 copies of LittleBigPlanet 2 during January 2011, nearly matching the first game's two-month total. In just the period around launch, the sequel has reached roughly one quarter of the original game's 1.47 million units in sales. (That original LittleBigPlanet figure includes the original 2008 release and the 2009 Game of the Year edition, but not the PSP version.)

I actually do deal and know all about the financial aspects of a corporation, Sony has yet to released their end of year fiscal statement(or quarterly), right now everything being released is besides NPD statement. Their quarterly statement will show that the IDC statement is false Forecasted bs which is what it is. Matter fact if its true you will see a 7 million console increase(which is impossible)

Agreed, but not with this type of merchandise. They may sit at the retailers DC, but consoles are not like more traditional commodities that are done the way you described. With Sony, Nintendo, and MS the shipped totals are those bought and sent to retailers. They don't know how many units each of the retailers are selling.

Nah, I am almost positive that before the PS3 dropped the PS2 already had 120 million or so sold. Thats 6 years in. So in 6 years you are looking at a console that pushed nearly as much as the 360 and ps3 did in the same time frame...this is not counting the dreamcast, OG xbox, or the gamecube numbers either.

edit: 120 million in 2007...so it had about 110 million in 2006 or so. 110 million in 6 years. NOTHING is doing what the PS2 did...just stop this nonsense right now...lol @ shattering anything. The 360 will probably stopped being manufactured in 2015 so to think that it is going to DOUBLE its total output before discontinuation is foolish and not even worth going back and forth over.

Yeah, the market is changing fast as hell and it spells trouble for gaming. Guess we are due for another 1983 type of crash in the near future. Still, The Wii selling that well is unheard of, especially when Nintendo was on the ropes during the gamecube era when they were in 3rd place.

$599 and hubris.

That said, I paid $599 for mine.

Crazy. No wonder I played the least amount of gaming this gen compared to the other gens. Games were overpriced, consoles were damn near entertainment systems of their own, and online services were normal. Guess that will happen when the average budget for a game is $50 million. On top of a recession. Also what startled me is that the first party Sony games sold the least compared to M$ and the big N. Their marketing is in shambles.

The xbox 360 will extremely easily sell more than 150million once they choose to "discontinue" it

Another thing that is a very real possibility is new games coming out will be compatible on both systems. It'll just look different in the same way how PC's vary in power.
This nifty little feature has all but been confirmed giving even more reason why the xbox has a shot at 300million systems sold. I say 3 because 200 is too low of a projection

As for price drops, the ps2 was $149.99 in 2004 ($129.99 in 06)
So how many units did they sell once it was about $300 off?
2004 they sold 74 million units worldwide

So to answer your question, they sold roughly 80 million systems from 2005 to now

There are plenty of ppl who would love to have a 360 or ps3 but can't.
Next christmas when they get a new system and a few games for $140 that broke kid is gonna be like Track Meet Michael taking a charge.. they gonna be like "Alright.. you got meeeeeee"
