They’ve signed

Cody Rhodes
CM Punk
Jade Cargill
Penta
Shawn Spears
Andrade
Brian Pillman Jr
Ethan Page
William Regal
Stephanie Vaquer (she was technically CMLL but it wasn’t a coincidence she got signed after that Mercedes match)

That’s a large percentage of people WWE has signed from AEW, especially considering AEW doesn’t release that many people.
Did you really put Punk on the list? Andrade & Spears are people HHH has a love for which confuses me. HHH & Regal go back 30yrs and Regal was H's right hand man in NXT. Vaquer used FD to get a deal with the WWE, she never wanted to go to AEW. Malakai is also a HHH favorite which is why he'll be back. Only 4 of those names are people that the WWE didn't have a previous relationship with.

This is why long, lengthy title reigns need to be rare and storyline mandated.

Everyone can feel important if you stop making the main guy feel like the center of the fukking universe every week.

Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, Kevin Owens, and CM Punk (no belt since returning) are perfect examples of how to make the big timers feel big even if they aren't the focus at that point in time.

Rhea, Charlotte, Cody, and Roman should not be impervious to this lol

Why the fukk SHOULDN'T Malakai Black beat Cody for the belt and have it for a month or two or three? If the storyline dictates that and the crowd is rocking with it, why should Cody be absolved?

I personally feel Kevin Owen should have beaten Cody for the belt at Saturday Night Main Event. It would have...

1. Made SNME feel like a big deal because the main title was exchanged in the main event

2. Given Kevin a few months of a feud before Cody or someone else got the title back in time for Mania season

3. Made Cody's run with the belt feel fresher whether he gets the belt back or not.

Triple H be too scared wit it. Too scared and too prejudiced.
Cody said in a promo this past SD that his story isn’t complete till he successfully leaves WM with the title so that may have something to do with it :ehh:

I agree with you tho. Rome historic Reign was dope but going from a 2 year reign to another year+ reign is :hhh:

Long title runs like we've seen since Punk's big run to today are very weird and out of place compared to previous eras of years long runs when the champ wasn't on TV every week, there weren't monthly PPVs, and the champ actually wrestling on TV was very rare. The main reason the Roman thing worked out was because of COVID making shows weird for 50% of it, and also just saying fukk it we're not going to put him on TV or shows for months at a time for no reason.

In the Bruno/Backlund/Hogan days, those types of long runs were possible because the champ wasn't on TV every week in any form, definitely wasn't working on TV multiple times a month, and most of the time the TV they did appear on was often on a regional station (Bruno/Backlund more than Hogan, but Hogan also had a whole lot of televised matches that were just for NYC or Boston or LA markets). It's very hard to keep interest in even a single year long title run when the champ is on TV weekly and working on TV multiple times a month.
