Ricky Starks is probably going to run into the same situations he did in AEW. The honeymoon phase with Penta is over after 5 weeks where he's doing Main Event already. I'm not sure there will be such an instant :gladbron: for Starks that Penta gets with the style and gimmick even though I certainly believe Starks is a much better talent on just about every level. Have a feeling he's going to have a pretty similar run in the WWE system and it won't be too long until he's frustrated about mid card feuds and dropping IC/US back and forth to someone for 3 years.

I think Starks will do well but there’s definitely a ceiling with him, plus he’s kinda old, same with Penta but with the masks and the catchphrase he’ll be a reliable player for years to come.

Outside of Cody and Punk, none of these guys are gonna be main eventers, especially with how crowded it is. Look at Andrade, doing the exact same thing he was doing in AEW. I could see Malakai having a random spring/early summer feud with Cody but that’s about it.

This is why long, lengthy title reigns need to be rare and storyline mandated.

Everyone can feel important if you stop making the main guy feel like the center of the fukking universe every week.

Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, Kevin Owens, and CM Punk (no belt since returning) are perfect examples of how to make the big timers feel big even if they aren't the focus at that point in time.

Rhea, Charlotte, Cody, and Roman should not be impervious to this lol

Why the fukk SHOULDN'T Malakai Black beat Cody for the belt and have it for a month or two or three? If the storyline dictates that and the crowd is rocking with it, why should Cody be absolved?

I personally feel Kevin Owen should have beaten Cody for the belt at Saturday Night Main Event. It would have...

1. Made SNME feel like a big deal because the main title was exchanged in the main event

2. Given Kevin a few months of a feud before Cody or someone else got the title back in time for Mania season

3. Made Cody's run with the belt feel fresher whether he gets the belt back or not.

Triple H be too scared wit it. Too scared and too prejudiced.

You actually bring up a good point, too many long title reigns is a problem, it’s one of those things that HHH carried over from NXT.

Hot potato 30 day reigns stink too though but there’s a balance somewhere.

But yeah HHH been booking weird lately, Gunther been World Champ since August and not once has he crossed paths with Punk, Rollins, or Drew. Like how you have a World Champ that doesn’t fight other main eventers?

I thought KO was gonna beat Cody at the Rumble honestly with Cody winning it back at Elimination Chamber, perfect way to wrap the story up before WM.

But it’s hard to get into Cody feuds nowadays when you know the end result.

Ricky should work some dates for TNA and the indies to create some buzz for himself and get more leverage in contract negotiations. Plus he JUST won the DEFY title on Saturday so he’s got to drop it somehow. Of course, he can always just relinquish it, but that doesn’t seem like something Rocky would do unless forced to.

If he goes straight there then hopefully it’s to NXT as main roster during the middle of WrestleMania season is not ideal unless they save his debut for after WM.

Is there any indication of who Cody is facing at WM?

And what is the end of result of this? What is the only path forward? For Cody to drop it at Mania to John Cena, a guy openly about to retire :mjlol:

Cena should get the belt one more time for sure, but this is too choreographed. it takes away from it.

That’s the problem with both rosters right now. The main event/world title scene is so loaded right now, there is just very little room for current midcarders to move up, and that has a trickle down effect for everyone else. It also makes the midcard talent far more expendable because there’s people lower than them that aren’t getting the chance to move up either.

But it’s not impossible by any means, especially if you change companies because their new company wants to use it as a chance to show other talents that the grass can indeed sometimes be greener on the other side.

Like Penta is being showcased as a singles guy when that never really happened in AEW, and while it’s in the mid card (which isn’t bad mind you), that’s far more of a singles push than he ever really got in AEW. Of course there’s also Ethan Page as a good example, but that’s in NXT, so not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

And then in the other direction, you have Ricochet, Swerve. Three people whose careers mostly went nowhere in WWE, now two of them are former world champs and the other in less than a year feels more important than he ever did in WWE and just beat a former world champ.

But if these AEW releases are just used, that’s going to be an improvement over what their 2024 was. Will they ever make it out of the midcard in WWE? Probably not, but being a good midcarder can make for a long and lucrative career.

There’s no way you’re this dumb

Penta is a bigger star right now than he ever was in AEW. That’s a fact.

He did main event cause they wanted to go the Kittle thing. He’s had more RAW matches since the Netflix move than anybody.
