I agree with most of the reviews thus far.

Won't rehash those thoughts, they were well started imo, but I do want to point out that this well off engineer went to 125th and the West Side Highway for his final confrontation and when the cops were looking into the grocery connection, they noted that he was 5 miles up the island, so ya, this dude knew what he was doing.

But that's what I love about this club at least as an idea: watching things I meant to watch or normally wouldn't watch and then getting to analyze them. I thought I was going to like Death Wish but after watching it...

I can't believe this movie has 3 sequels, this shyt was terrible, wasn't a fan of Bronson's acting either, with news of his wife dying his facial expression lacked any type of emotion
besides the rape scene the violence was really anything graphic like I had imagined.
I think a lot of the politically talked is a bit contrived, I mean who better to turn somebody into a gun nut than a gun nut
muggers appearing like puddies on the NYC streets was a tad bit hilarious add in the fact this nikka was basically catfishing criminals in order to give him hat work

the symbolism of the vigilante inspiring the citizens was in the vain of the dark knight
same reason this movie glorifies the gun violence of a private citizen is the same reason movies glorify gangter movies, the truth is people wish they could do these things in real life or had the balls to go outside the law

well brehs. for being such a short movie, this was very tough to sit through.

i found it surprisingly boring.

well it shouldn't surprise me i have a hard time getting through the majority of 70s movies other than a handful of the classics. even some hyped up ones i find boring.

they just seem to be a collection of scenes rather than a tighter structured story of the 40-60s

other random thoughts:

70s NY creeps me out

the rape scene was kind of disturbing

70s movie blood looks AWFUL

fav random line "why haven't you found my dog yet he's vital to my income he paints wonderful portraits with his paws" :heh:

this is my 3rd bronson movie (once upon a time in the west, great escape) and the dude hardly speaks in any of his films. I wish we could have some advanced metrics on line to movie ratio

2.5 /5 eberts

Watching this movie also gave me an appreciation for modern film, the craft has come a long way

eh.. i'd take films from the 40s-60s over most shyt today but i guess i get where you're coming from

@kp404 better come through and crush the buildings sunday :mjpls:

That was Bronson's acting style from the day he started in movies till the day he died.
He was one of those old school Hollywood tough guy actors. Emoting was for pussies.

I am using a phone at the moment so forgive me for not using spoiler tags.

I won't go into what the movie is about for those who haven't watched it yet.I enjoyed this movie more than expected. It's got a good plot, continuity and character development. Unlike other revenge films that are all action/blood etc... Death wish haunting, gritty and compelling. I must say his movie brings out some conflicting emotions in me. On one hand I am routing for Paul, I understand his fustration and motive. I want him to teach these crminals a lesson. On the other hand i'm worried at the message his sending to the public that killing criminals is the answer, like their animals or some shyt. Its a blantant disregard of their humanity. It's interesting to watch his transion from an ordinary citizen family man to a cold blooded killer. He manages to elude the police-by a small margin-when suspision arises. As the story on it becomes clear that the he comes to-for lack of better word-enjoy the killings as he takes his nightly strolls to provoke an attack from muggers. The ending cements that he will continue being a 'vigilante'. I liked this movie because it forced me to question how broad or narrow would my take on justice be if I were in a similar situation.
