The biggest problem is that with the starting lineup, Kemba is the only good ball handler, Fournier is ok, RJ and Randle can't handle the rock so there's not much facilitation. The ball stops with Randle and the offense dies. Mitch or Noel plays clean up on bricks from aisle 30 and 9.
Fournier is more of a catch and shoot guy but he can't do that if Randle is stopping the offense and bringing double teams to him with limited ball handling. shyt gets stale and repetitive. Teams are laughing at this nikka.
Bench comes in, there's better penetration, cuts, slashes, ball movement because you now have 4 guys that can handle the rock between, IQ, Rose, Burk and Toppin. Noone is stopping to play Kobe with a broken jumper. Instead they're constantly pushing the ball.
That's the offense.
On defense, Kemba is too short to defend anyone so the opponents read that and create screens to mismatch and get points on him or switch to the perimeter and take the 3. They deliberately make sure Knicks bigs are inside and make Kemba, Fournier, RJ have to run out.
The bench comes in... IQ is scrappy, Burk is scrappy, also Toppin is a much better defender and rebounder than Randle. He actually guards from the perimeter instead of under the rim so whenever screens are committed Q or Burk switch up to defend the outside man. He also catches more rebounds. This creates far less 2nd, 3rd chance points unlike the starters.
