I have no real complaints on yesterday’s game. Except Cam was trying to do to much but like others have said he was probably trying to earn minutes and it’s a contract year. Hopefully they tell him to calm down and let the offense flow.

Knicks going to be a team whose success is based on rebounding, defense, and not turning the ball over. I also expect them to hunt foul calls as they attack the rim. I could see them being top 10 in 3 or all 4 of those categories. They will shoot the three but I don’t expect them to be even a top half team in that stat. This is still a beat you up on both sides of the ball team.

It’s early but I still think the three teams this Knicks squad identity will be a mix of Thibs Bulls defense (rim protection and ball pressure), the Villanova Championship teams Offense (quick decision 4 man out offense), and roster building similar to what we saw with the 2004 Detroit team (aka no superstars but solid 2 way players). Basically three examples of teams that might not have had superstar talent (aka Bulls minus D.Rose) but were contenders.

I don’t think these Knicks are contenders but I do expect a winning season if health permits.

:yeshrug:

All the pieces are there for over achieving past their talent level. Also, yes it’s been one preseason game but I been saying these things all summer.

I agree with what was mentioned earlier Cam playing with RJ helps out a lot with that. Brunson keeping the ball out of Randles hands for prolonged stretches in quarters was all I was hoping for.

That was what he was brought here to do and it’s similar to how he played with Luka but the Knicks want him even more ball dominant.

One of the highlights of the night was RJ, Randle, and Brunson all hunting Bojan on defense. He’s a bad defender so if he was on them and they had the ball they attacked or tried to get a switch to get that matchup. I think Thibs mentioned the fact that they were looking forward to playing Detroit because of the switching defense. It really helped show why sharing the ball helps (and specifically Jalen) as they hunted Bojan down for easy baskets.

Jaden Ivey was impressive
He was finishing a lot easier than i expected. I’m curious how him and Cade will fit. “Your turn, my turn” rarely works out in the nba (only time that’s coming to me was Lebron and Kyrie) and Cade looked a little lost offensively. Could just be him not taking preseason too seriously though.

Start selling those vets!!! :damn:

That ain’t this FO, they gonna be more on that “Got any vets you want to sell for cheap?” Steez.

:shaq:

It’s too early to scout who the Knicks will take but keep an eye on upper classman who win awards or upperclassmen who make a serious run.

I keep saying this draft class is gonna have a lot of extra sellers at the trade deadline.
The way I see it Indiana might budge and do that Westbrook deal for one of those Lakers picks instead of two. Maybe add a pick swap this year if possible

I am a big believer that the Wizards are a tank team fronting like it isn’t. Atlanta has been selling for a while. On the low they don’t seem happy with their core so if they struggle maybe the quit and focus on building around Trae. The Hornets might break it down too though they may need to attach assets to sell. Another team I could see selling is Portland, they’ve been trying to build around Dame for a while, but on the low they have begun their rebuild too. With Dame and Simmons they are kind of where the Knicks was with Melo and KP. The Bulls might fall apart too, I don't know if they tank though, but they got guys they could move.

The Pistons, Rockets, Magic, Spurs, Jazz, and Thunder shouldn’t have to sell to be in position to tank. They will either develop or be bad.

That’s my top 11 and the other four lottery picks are just the guys who loss the playin games.

I have Atlanta pegged as a likely buyer, but I'm right with you on the Hornets, Portland, and Wizards as teams that will shift quickly.

I actually have the Magic and Thunder as potential buyers. I think the Magic might be sneaky good this season, not great but competitive for a spot in the play-in. After two seasons in the lottery, they may make a push if they're content with a core of Paolo, Wagner, and Suggs (with Cole and Fultz potentially in the mix too). The Thunder, I'm curious to see how they act after the big extension to SGA.

I don't Indy as a seller, but I think they may try to trade one or two of their glut of young wings. I think similar could be true for Miinnesota if their spacing is problematic and with Toronto more because they want to jump from playoff team to contender.

I've also got a few potential surprise sellers in mind. Brooklyn and Phoenix both feel like powder kegs where a slow start could snowball. Boston's situations with Udoka and the weirdness with Brown make them a curious situation too. Last, I'm curious about how the Bulls look this year with Lonzo's healthy and Derozan approaching his mid-thirties.

There's a lot up in the air and this draft class has generational talents, plus high-end talent that ought to make the race to the bottom more enticing than ever. I'm really curious to see if the play-in tournament and lottery odds can stave off franchises dropping this season for a shot at Wembanyama, Scoot, or a Thompson twin.

Actually you might have a point about the Magic and Atlanta. I disagree about Indy. There is too much smoke there that they want to go younger and Myles and Heild for a Lakers pick isn't a horrible deal unless they think they can do better

Brooklyn and the Suns selling would definitely be something to see.

As for your question, I can definitely see teams being buyers. Its the nature of the NBA that most the time you want to ride it out, and make a deep playoff run because that momentum carries over to the next season. Teams really just break it apart when they see their ceiling or when the money is too much. The last few seasons hasn't seen a repeat champion either.

Nah my bad. I meant for everyone else to sell. We’re definitely buyers…
