This is a great response to Thibs' comments today. I like the mention about how we sucked in high leverage situations. The Knicks had to leading the league in games lost after leading by 20 :francis:

I don't think adding another wing makes sense because the second wing should already be on the roster. RJ is signed and they kept Grimes out of the Mitchell trade. Then they've also got Cam who cost a first-round pick. Same problem happens at the 4 with Obi in place of Grimes. If one of those guys flops hard then maybe the math changes, but even then I think Reddish gets an opportunity before the FO considers giving up assets for another good but not great player.
I think we’re discussing two different time tables. In the short term a trio of Grimes/RJ/and Cam might seem ideal. However, look at what just happened with Grimes being injured. Fournier is starting and say the rehab takes a while the line up is thin at wing. You can either keep Fournier or trade him but they aren’t doing this season with three wings and IQ is a backup PG.

You could say “well they could just get a Free Agent during next year’s Free Agency” but all they will have then is the MLE. The talent level would be less than the level of player they could trade Fournier 18 Mil for now. You could say they could draft someone but there is no guarantee anyone will be there or that the Knicks will draft a good player. Not to mention would Thibs play a rookie.

Then add to that the fact the cap is going up so they could sign a traded for player now to a contract they have a legit chance of out performing and I think they do it. It makes too much sense to upgrade Fournier for a better piece if one becomes available.

The only real questions are do the Knicks play so well the FO makes the same mistake of not trading Fournier to try and improve or will a another team put a better wing on the trade market.
