I think the Shams report just now cemented that I feel like Danny Ainge is playing games and BS'ing. The list of teams with interest is a bunch of squads that can't offer the picks he wants. Toronto could offer Scottie Barnes I suppose, but I don't think they'd do that (he was a deal-breaker even for KD). Atlanta gave up all their picks for Murray. Miami is focused on Durant and had a weaker offer than the Knicks. Charlotte, Washington, and Sactown would need to involve third teams to match the number of picks which would also require them coming off young players that they've valued thus far. This feels like Utah dumping a list of teams that called to try and spook Leon Rose.
I just wanna revisit this sentiment with a note from the KFS newsletter:
The popular sentiment among Knicks fans is that any and all reports of other teams being involved in the Mitchell sweepstakes is nothing more than the media carrying water for the Jazz in an effort to put pressure on New York. To that end, I think the wording of this report - “expressed interest” as opposed to “entered negotiations” - is key. From what I’ve heard, there is a perception by some people close to the negotiations between the Knicks and Jazz that this is a one-team race (“Everyone else is out” was the exact wording used to me.) This would lend credence to the various internet reports from folks claiming this trade is on the two yard line. If, as some perceive it, Danny Ainge has concluded that the best offer he’s going to get is from Leon Rose, then one could say that all that’s left to do is hammer out the details.
I don't think anyone really needs sources to conclude this. Most teams told Marks to kick rocks for his demands for KD, so no surprise that Ainge can't get his crazy demands met for Mitchell.
