What other options do we have in the next year or 2? If we can dump Randle, we could max out another 2, 3, 4 guard to play around him and still keep 2 or 3 of our youth from a financial standpoint.

Keep the PGs that we have and kim..
Quickley and Rose and a pickup can fill in for the 3rd spot on the pg.

nikkas across the street talking themselves into Brunson being a good idea :mjlol: :francis: . This team is doomed, just run the young guys and build properly, Randle isn't that guy and no amount of "pieces" will fix that. Brunson does not make them a deep playoff level team which is the only reason you bring in a 100+ player when we just missed playoffs.

This is same old knicks shyt 😒

100 plus is the going rate for an above average nba starter. Stars are signing for 180-200 plus this summer. Y’all gotta recalibrate what an nba contract is anymore. If FVV was up this summer he’d be offered the same exact contract.

The issue is Brunson doesn't make the team better where we all know Brunson is going to he eating the younger guys mins. This team was tragic last year cause of much more than the PG position.

I don't think it's smart for the knicks to just assume that Randle will get it back together and for RJ to be near All Star level. Not only that but seeing Randle in the playoffs, we need a number one that is dependable not another player beneath Julius

I get that it's a tough pill to swallow, because the figure seems crazy. But you're right, I think Brunson at 23-25 range is fair value. Not a bargain, but fair value.

it's also not a move that handcuffs the Knicks to a treadmill like some heads act. If they're looking to move contracts for cap space, then the return would probably be a TPE. Brunson, abundance of picks, a roster of mostly under-25's, and a sizeable TPE or two would leave New York with plenty of flexibility. Especially considering they're guaranteed to not have cap space once they start extending their developmental guys like Mitch and RJ.

They haven't done enough to inspire faith that they'll thread the needle and land a star. But they have the tools at their disposal to make changes to the roster, be that dumping contracts or chasing stars or something in-between. The important thing is, a Brunson deal isn't the last move in any sequence.

One more note: They have cap space to chase Brunson just by moving any one of Burks, Noel, Cam, Fournier, or Rose...but that also means that if there's a bigger fish available, they also have paths to more cap space too...and I think Cam and Rose could fetch some kinda assets (not sure what level of value though) and even Burks might.
