It's unlikely, but the NY media push around Ivey makes me think there's real smoke in them trying to make a play for him. I just don't know what that even looks like. Trading to 7 and crossing their fingers for Ivey but settling for Mathurin makes the most sense to me for this conservative FO. They don't take big shots and seem to set serious boundaries on how much they're willing to give up/pay to get the guys they want.
What makes this one particularly interesting is that it's the most enthusiasm that I've heard from the Knicks FO for a player since Obi. The rumors around the Obi pick is that they had lined up a deal to move up if need be, but after gauging the rest of the league decided to stay put. They've been really active in moving a few spaces up or down as needed and outside of missing on Maxey, they've had a really good grasp on where they could get the guys they want since Rose, Aller, and WWW took form.
