dogg food ruined the streak for me. it was a decent album, but it had some "skippers." that murder was the case though was arguably better than above the rim...a toss up, to me.

I agree with what you said about the Above the Rim/MUrder Was the Case OST. Above the Rim was definitely a classic soundtrack, but it had a few tracks wasn't really that hype about it. MWTC, that whole album was fire. Possibly best soundtrack album of all time.

Dogg Food was amazing, breh:ufdup:

Dogg Food > Above The Rim, Murder Was The Case

Daz, DJ Pooh, Soopafly production mixed by Dr. Dre with Kurupt lyricism at its finest? :lawd:

people in here trying to say that "murder was the case" is better than "above the rim", need to do some explaining.

pronto.

:why: youre insane.

the reason dogg food didnt fully get its props initially was because it was clearly a step down from the previous 4 releases. it is a classic tho, but barely. sorta like albums such as jay's blueprint.

best case scenario, what could deathrow have become if it didn't all go crazy? natural laws of music suggest they would have fell off anyways. Bad Boy? they fell off. but still, Pac was at his height when he passed, Dre was yet to discover Em, Em could have been on DR if Dre stayed and there was no BS with Suge? still a legendary label, but the potential. and it being black owned as well.

nobody cares about eminem in that aspect. otherwise, aftermath would be considered legendary. but they did have alot of artists on deck that didnt reach their potential: sam sneed, lady or rage, dj quik didnt drop an album over there, death row east, and that jodeci thread got me to thinking about their r&b division. they signed jodeci when they were coming off their best album, and devante was the best producer in music & they signed him to a production deal and all that went to chit because suge wanted to bully niccas. and man, yall saw that track that devante laid down for danny boy. then you still had jewell, michell'le, nate dogg and somebody on sohh said that they signed christopher williams. and you know that if devante stayed there and was happy, then he prolly wouldve put the whole swing-mob crew on over there. timbaland & missy on the boards, GINUWINE, playa, etc.

and dont get it twisted, i love dogg food. im just saying that its not seeing those soundtracks. i also think that it suffered a lil bit from the bar being raised too high at death row.

Death Row was the leader of all things Hip-Hop from about 92-96. No one was fukking with them. But they had a drop off that has not been rivaled. Look at their albums released after The 7 day theory. Then Suge got al them rappers like Top Dogg and The Realest trying to recreate something that was organic. Even had nikkas thinking Crooked I would bring tha Row back. But by then Suge had fukked over to many people and burned to many bridges. Makes me wonder how Baby been in the game for 20 plus years and still aint fall off after jerking nikkas. All that shyt Suge did done came back on him over the years ten fold.

yep, death row made the best music ever. not talking bout skill or lyrics, but in terms of the full package , just made the best music to bump. Dogg Pound's Smooth is just great to ride out too.

That much talent on one hip hop roster will never be seen again.
