White people are fukkin furious over just the trailer.

Movies got a 4.1 rating on imdb :dead:
That's how I know I'll enjoy it. I'd be suspicious if it didn't challenge their ideas of what black people and black films are supposed to be. I'm done with the played out narratives of black people as victims. Victims of racism in the past(who are of course saved by some compassionate white person), or victims of the ghetto, or victims of a war torn dictatorship.

:patrice: I think y'all have been gassing this up in here just cuz it's supposedly a "smart" black film, but this still doesn't have me sold nor does it seem like anything I'd want to see at the theater, maybe if I was still in college (I'd watch it on demand or netflix tho). Ionno, good for them tho, hope it does well.

Saw the trailer for this on IGN today. Just want to say as a white guy this movie looks very promising, and don't take the right wing trolls in the comments sections on articles pertaining to this movie as a representation of a majority of whites. Especially for the millennial generation, the amount of racists are shrinking and shrinking.

Lol @shrinking. No ones falling for the okie doke

IMMIGRANT TETHERS
Like another posters said, it seems like a black hipster movIe. I'm having second thoughts about watching this. It seems like one of those production directed by a "New Black" person just to make it seem like they're down for the black cause and against white supremacy, but at the same time still want to desperately integrate with white folks. The main chick having a white love interestin a movie like this leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

But my bae Teyonah Parris is in this and im so conflicted.:noah:

if yall think these cacs gonna really release a movie that makes them look bad.. then the jokes on you. From the 2nd trailer it seems like its mocking "militant" blacks rather than shytting on racist cacs.

I watched the trailer a few times today and I see all of these points you guys are making, it's put me in a neutral position, where as before I was super gung ho about this film.

Finding out Tessa Thompson character's love interest is white has straight up pissed me off. I feel like it's a subliminal message; - I'm going to make noise about institutional racism, but deep down, I'm okay with being fukked by the white man -.

But then again maybe I'm tripping:yeshrug:I'm going to try and save any harsh judgments until after I've seen the film.
