best i ever heard Dave was in the time between Black Rose and Hate Me Now were he was killing it on the freestyles over the classic LOX, Cam etc beats. that was what made me a fan. for someone to rap over classics in this day and time and have me caring he had to have been bodying em.

honestly..you could put both of their shyt on paper and they wouldn't be that different.
V shyt just got a little more cleverness to it. Dave more straightforward. Dave style more easier on the ears to the average listener though. Vado can get into that loud delivery shyt that can be annoying.

Sinatra 2 got me enjoying Vado heavy again...this project and Al Doe's are up there for me this year.
looking forward to Paranoia. would please me if V, Al-Doe and Dave all ended up putting out great projects.
I like Vado a lot but I think the edge Dave East has over him is his authenticity.

Vado has a lot of projects but you don't really know who he is or his story. It took till he dropped SF4 (I Remember) to really get anything about his come up. East and Vado both got countless rhymes about the same shyt (they're both from Harlem) but Dave East puts more passion and pain into it. Talking about going to jail, being broke for so long, his cousin dying etc. That's what got me listening to East more than Vado right now, he's more relatable.

Sinatra 2 is GREAT project by the way... possibly his best mixtape, a lot of deep shyt on there (finally)

yeah, Vado just seen as a cool guy, a good dude thats well liked by people in the industry.
he don't put too much of his past or his life in general in his music even though he been locked up for selling to undercovers, scamming etc. never flaunted his relationships with these industry females etc, never put his family out there. lowkey guy.

he don't use social media like that either where as Dave the opposite.
Dave isn't shy about that shyt..he got his life plastered over social media..he keeps the fans fed.

Dave gives you a reason to root for him. Vado never...shyt, Vado had to win people over because there was plenty of people that just wanted to hear Cam yet Vado is on every song with him. then he'd always take two steps forward to steps back. then these past few years people got tired and moved on....prolly to Dave and thats why i brought him up in this thread. don't want Dave to end up in that position.

yeah, Sinatra 2 is great. took me by surprise. i couldn't ask for anymore.
out the twelve records on there i like ten of them. especially the Dame Grease joints and Stronger.

I just read through this thread. I'm glad to see I'm not person who has noticed the cliche radio-friendly female-targeted single from Rappers featuring an R&B singer (That the 2000's & early 2010's was littered with) doesn't really work anymore in 2017/2018. I suspect the streaming music era has to do with that.

Also, I think Napoleon/@4d 6f 6e 65 79 is probably spot on that this was originally a Chris Brown song. Chris Brown has a built-in studio in his house now & if you follow him on Instagram he's always in his studio previewing new music. So it's very possible that Chris gave this song to Dave East.

EDIT:

I just looked up who produced "Perfect" and according to Wikipedia, it was co-produced by Amadeus. Antwan "Amadeus" Thompson produced or co-produced a bunch of songs on Chris Brown's current album + I noticed that Chris Brown's name is listed first under the songwriting credits for "Perfect". So this is more proof that "Perfect" was originally a Chris Brown song.

I mean, the video had about 24 million views on Youtube, so I guess it worked. Anything Breezus Christ touches turns to gold :yeshrug:

24 million views for a music video from a major label artist is a Flop. Remember a music video has to get 100 million views to be Vevo-certified:

U talking nonsense bro. 25 million views is in no way a flop. fukk are u talking about.
:gucci: For a major label artist??!! Yes, only having 25 million views after 4 months is a Flop.

EDIT:

:lupe: I think maybe the disconnect is I'm comparing Dave East's YouTube views with bigger name established artists.

Yeah, it sure looks like EAST is flopping out here

What are you guys fascination with East not being a mega star?

This guy is an artist who can put out records, gain a good fanbase and eat well. Fuhk cares if he isnt J Cole status or whoever.

Every artist isnt measured by sales and popularity. This is a career he striving for and winning at so far.

Do y'all nyggas say ya'll parents flopped at life? Im just curious.

Dog 26 million is a lot of views no matter who u are. Thats an international touring number.

Once u can tour outside the US u r established.

I simply don't understand what's so hard to understand about that. If Dave was independent him doing those numbers would make him the Don...but he's on a major label with major exposure. If you like somebody that's cool but if a nikka is averaging 9 pts as a starter why you trying to sell me on him being a force?
