I disagree cause although Cam was holding his hand as you put it Vado at least had some bangers that ran off Nationwide. Dave East trying to get that for himself but Vado had We all up in here, Hey Muma and Speaking in tongues which if I remember was getting radio play nationwide. If not at least NY was supporting him a lot.

thats the only thing Vado has over is Dave is that he had couple of big records in the tri-state.

Dave does things i wanted Vado to do. he bridges the gap better between the young and old, networks better, keep his social media fed and has more support in the city at the minute than Vado ever did AND he wants to be a star. Vado was too normal.

Vado's easily a better rapper than Dave though.

annnnnnd he still failed :dead:

Side note, you're one of the best posters on here. Consistently accurate viewpoints :obama:
It's crazy how he hasn't had one yet. He can get damn near ANY feature at this point. Fab told him maybe a year or two ago that he's gonna "need one" ... I feel like they'll start to reach soon. BUT they can also just have him get his feature game up. Which I expect to happen

again, that Nas co-sign big him up too much.

Same with J Cole.

These artists have NO real fanbase and rely on pure hype.

He has a fan base though. He's actually trending better than he should be. No big features..... not a lot of projects. He's in spots with artists bigger than him. He moves around just like them. And you can see a lot of the game getting near him. The full push is coming. We'll see what happens

fact is, all his songs are borderline trash tho...thats why I like Don Q and A Boogie so much more

Damn shame he HAS to make a record like this (female joint)

The very first time I heard Dave East was this joint:

Song had me legit excited because it sounds like nothing else that's currently mainstream. (I actually heard it on some mainstream radio station in North Carolina) It sounds like some fly, mature shyt for grown folk. It sounds like what I grew up listening to. My definition of "real hip-hop" basically.

Im highly disappointed that he has to make music like this to get to the next level but I understand he's doing what needs to be done in 2017.

It doesn't need to be done if you have the talent and/or charisma to resonate with a listener and grow organically. Dave East is a solid spitter with no charisma or story that a large number of folks can gravitate to. His social media following is mostly females that think he looks good.

The thing is, I thought Cole suffered from similar issues as well. He's not an elite spitter, not a charismatic guy AT ALL...but Cole was able to find his core (with the help of his label) by playing the "college kid" role and took off from there.

It looks like right now the label wants to market East as the "pretty thug"...but I really don't think that will get him any sustainable traction in terms of growing his fan base.

Nah Dave East can blow if they market him right. The females love him which is a big advantage, and he can be a hard street rapper if he wants. He can get the move from both sides he just got to make a hit, not generic songs with Chris Brown.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, a banger with French, A Boogie, Swae lee, etc could get him the hit he needs. They just got to avoid all that generic shyt

Well he said in an interview that the real push is coming after Paranoia when he releases his major label debut but Paranoia still got some joints on there that I feel is gonna shake shyt up in NY specifically. He just needs to keep trying tho. He built from the ground up so he has that luxury. Cardi B is the perfect example of building from the ground up. She kept trying until she got that ONE. Now look at her.

Yeah I said in another thread that the REAL push will start soon. You can already see it. "Paranoia" is gonna be hard. But his next joint? They going for it

That's arguable. I was listening to East mixtapes and freestyles before the Nas co-sign. Dude is NASTY.

best i ever heard Dave was in the time between Black Rose and Hate Me Now were he was killing it on the freestyles over the classic LOX, Cam etc beats. that was what made me a fan. for someone to rap over classics in this day and time and have me caring he had to have been bodying em.

honestly..you could put both of their shyt on paper and they wouldn't be that different.
V shyt just got a little more cleverness to it. Dave more straightforward. Dave style more easier on the ears to the average listener though. Vado can get into that loud delivery shyt that can be annoying.

Sinatra 2 got me enjoying Vado heavy again...this project and Al Doe's are up there for me this year.
looking forward to Paranoia. would please me if V, Al-Doe and Dave all ended up putting out great projects.
