These are entertainers and a lot of them aren't as intellectually thorough as they portray themselves to be. This isn't to say that Dave is an idiot, but dudes like that in retrospect tend to have some serious unconfronted issues and hangups.

He seems to hate the industry, he shiits on the industry every chance he gets. They was giving him 50 million, but I bet things was going to get a lot more corporate and more high profile. It doesn't seem like anything else. He never made it about anything else.

And he's one of the most honest about white people (eg his bit about being ashy) and a huge Chappelle fan. If I'm not mistaken Dave and/or Neal speak pretty fondly of him on the Season 2 commentary (racial draft sketch, i believe). This was before the incident of course.

I think the part where he talks about how someone laughed at his jokes says it all.

I think his integrity hit him. People were laughing AT him rather than with him. And I think I know the people he was talking about.
