I didn't realize this was the particular sketch. I've seen this before. I'm black and I have kind of mixed emotions about this but that might be largely due to the fact that I can see the bigger picture.

I can't lie, I laughed pretty hard but it is because I can empathize. Situations like this come up daily for me. I'm not really sure if I would be comfortable around white people laughing at this either. On the flipside, it may have been nice to have more racial commentary like this just because Chappelle is so smart. Not many people can finesse or get away with a sketch like that.

the wild shyt is that x amount of years later we can look back and see that Dave c00ned the fukk out. Not just on CHappelle's Show but in Nutty Professor, a few of his early stand ups and even in Half Baked.

and he KNOWS this shyt too. He's been known it. Chappelle's Show was "ours" for a quick seconds, took off like a speeding train and it got to a point where the shyt wasn't even his anymore. Dude KNEW he was signing his soul away with that shyt and deep down probably wanted it to be a minor/underground it.

Motherfukker didn't realize that he was being anointed as "that dude" in comedy where there can only be one at a time. Chris Rock had his shyt, Eddie had his shyt, Seinfeld had his shyt and now it's Louie CK's time. People can say Kevin Hart is that dude right now but Kevin Hart is a clear headed Tracy Morgan with business sense, no alcohol and a willingness to do whatever the fukk they want him to do.

whatever the case, Dave tried to get out and it was too fukking late and his career will NEVER recover because he went against his sergeant's orders and literally left the fukking base. They discharged his ass for life.

That quote at the end by Maya - Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. It doesn't do anything to the object of its displeasure.
:whew:

I love it & more black people need to understand it. Use the anger as a fire to toil and progress but never be bitter. It will destroy you

:wow:

True. I remember SO many white dudes back then who loved recite the "There's blacks folks...and there's nikkas"

That's another joke that only black ppl truly get the meaning behind the joke.

I thought I remembered reading an article about Rock mentioning how he stopped doing those jokes b/c white ppl were reciting them too much. But maybe I didn't....if I did I'm sure someone on here can find it.

Us black folks need to stop blaring jokes like that cuz we are putting it out like on a platter for anyone to eat at. If you're a successful comedian then people are gonna recite what u say. We should know this by now. Why u think some white dudes be saying nikka in front of their black friends? cuz it has been universally accepted in their little group. Same thing applies to comedy
