But there does seem to be some need for him to try and explain away certain celebrities behaviors like Kyrie and Elon by trying to give off some of his “blessings” as he’s vouching for them being a good person or not deserving of x and y from America.

Comedians, and Dave in particular, are "free speech" fundamentalists. Dave thinks that comedy is a noble profession and tries to push back against what he sees as censorship no matter the content.
