On the bolded, I don't agree. But, you have a right to your opinion.

It's a way to be in America -- and work in Hollywood and still be true to yourself -- and not get "hostility."

My issue is portraying roles - race-specific - ADOS specific roles. And having no connection, care, or respect for those who you portray. It's also about being respectful and showing appreciation and understanding.

He can play and act being a Ugandan or Brit -- or both. I would love to learn about that experience. Accept roles as who he IS and be mindful about the shyt you say.

It's so many Foreign Black/Black Immigrant talent that ADOS have love for. And it's been like that for decades -- but you never heard them or heard about them saying and doing any of the shyt a lot of people do these days.

I've seen an interview where Daniel hexpresseda huge amount of respect for Fred Hampton and spoke of his admiration of him. But that's cool, we can agree to disagree. :yeshrug:I've seen countless negative comments directed at a black British actor as soon as it was discovered they were not American, so yes, they WILL face some form of hostility just because of where they're from before they've even said a word about anything - so it's a lose/lose situation for them and there's no point in pretending otherwise.

As far as the black experience in the UK, I can recommend movies and shows if you wanted to know more about it. Yes he can play a Ugandan or a Brit, but he's an ACTOR. Unless there's some type of new rule that you can only play a character of your own heritage...? Colombians are pissed off at Narcos because the dude who portrayed Pablo and most of the actors aren't even Colombian and some of them weren't even born in South America. In an ideal world, ADOS would only play ADOS, Black British/Caribbean/Africans would only play themselves etc for authenticity, but the movie industry hasn't set that rule yet and it's not changing any time soon. The actors are just being given the work.

The definition of backtracking and feigned outrage throughout this thread, gotdamn yall are lost and focused on the wrong shyt, I swear. If only people brought this much energy for reacts and negativity on white people, white supremacy - the epicenter of all of this shyt. Tired of the fukkin hypocrisy, for real. Yall won't even show your fukkin faces in threads to actually speak on white interference relative to racism, will be quick to find alignment with white people, will carbon copy white ideologies to go at your own race and invite white people into white spaces for face value as long as they say what will pacify you.

Exactly. But the white elephant in the room always gets a pass.

Why the f is this thread doing more numbers than the white racist news anchor who says n-er words on tv and the racist false rape outrage-ist like Evan Rachel Wood and Mira Sorvino who perpetuate the pedo and culture prevalent in Hollywood by shifting the blame to black men and disrespecting dead “celebrities” and their families. Since posters seem to be concerned with actors and “celeb” culture. Then people wonder why white men skate through the system and get passes in the industry that actually set the trend as far as black representation. and why are people so vocal in here responding to calls for activism absent in this thread..cancel culture but no cancellation of cacs.

Good shyt Nicole :ehh: In your opinion, why is there more focus here?

Personally, I can't help but notice the time of the OP, the time of a certain tweet in the thread, and think of a certain L-word :jbhmm:
