Where in America can you be black and not be defined by your blackness? I don't get this.

Can you name one actor who never spoke on race?

If a black child gets shot who's white america gonna talk to for opinions?

Do you know how many people in America have a job due to the fact they know how to play the racial issue well? How many politicans got into office in these conservative racist towns due to pandering to the population and keeping the area "safe"?

Wasn't it last year I think an Alaskan offical made a statement wanting to keep Alaska white?

And this dude who is a black actor is expecting not to be defined by his race in America?

When we got these white liberals out here who can't go 5 days without speaking on some sort of unity with all races?

This dude is damn near special, last time I checked even Denzel gets asked racial questions now and then. Obama gets asked too....

Dude is clearly a idiot not knowing how Philanthropy or America works.

And contrary to popular belief, cacs do get asked about race/ethnicity/nationality... the only reason I know actors like Daniel Day Lewis, Heath Ledger or Nicole Kidman aren’t American is because they have been asked about it. Nicole Kidman has been asked extensively about the Australian wildfires because it’s relevant to her as an Aussie:

Nicole Kidman cries on red carpet ahead of Golden Globes over Australia wildfires: report | Fox News

If you do a bunch of ‘race’ movies, it’s relevant that people will want to talk to you about race.

The definition of backtracking and feigned outrage throughout this thread, gotdamn yall are lost and focused on the wrong shyt, I swear. If only people brought this much energy for reacts and negativity on white people, white supremacy - the epicenter of all of this shyt. Tired of the fukkin hypocrisy, for real. Yall won't even show your fukkin faces in threads to actually speak on white interference relative to racism, will be quick to find alignment with white people, will carbon copy white ideologies to go at your own race and invite white people into white spaces for face value as long as they say what will pacify you.

@Stacker Pentecost bytch, didn't you just report me to the mods for bringing light to a white female poster on here who not only has the word "n---r" blasted in her tweets, retweets and all over timeline; routinely devalues black women on here to sow the discords and division among black people, panders to black audiences while her whole fukked existence shows that she doesn't practice what she preaches; and yet here you are going hard as fuk over these fake hollyweird fictional roles and narratives that they push. Further engaging in divisive hypocrisy. But I never see you in threads of the opposite. You must need attention or views for your searches, bc the only time I see you pop out is when you need the looks - just like the police video that you put up. The fuk are these actors and actresses relegated to this level of importance or status anyway, they are not spokespeople - it's what they do for a living- put on a character and play a role. Just like they are playing you with the distractions.

Like I said earlier, hostility will always be directed at Daniel and not to mention other non black American actors no matter what they do or say as long as they are performing acting roles in America. If one of them scratches their head a certain way it will generate hostility.

Honestly (like many of you), I dream of the day they all pack up their bags leave the states and bring their collective talents and pool their resources together and build up some form of black industry here. At one time we were doing better and had more representation here but somehow it lost momentum. But that's not your problem obviously, that's something they need to work out.

On the bolded, I don't agree. But, you have a right to your opinion.

It's a way to be in America -- and work in Hollywood and still be true to yourself -- and not get "hostility."

My issue is portraying roles - race-specific - ADOS specific roles. And having no connection, care, or respect for those who you portray. It's also about being respectful and showing appreciation and understanding.

He can play and act being a Ugandan or Brit -- or both. I would love to learn about that experience. Accept roles as who he IS and be mindful about the shyt you say.

It's so many Foreign Black/Black Immigrant talent that ADOS have love for. And it's been like that for decades -- but you never heard them or heard about them saying and doing any of the shyt a lot of people do these days.

That's EXACTLY what the gripe is most of the time. Celebs speaking out of turn when they "don't know enough" or "aren't ADOS"-- Breh said he's not trying to speak for all black and it's STILL an issue :mindblown: :what:

I swear....something ain't right :leostare: :hhh:
I don't think people are being malicious, and it's fine to disagree, but I think some people the main gripe is that non-ados are playing ADOS roles (or FBA whatever side you're on :francis:) and that is what is fueling the hostility. He already got the target on his back for that.

Personally, all I'm saying, regardless of what roles he is playing I get the impression he is speaking in general and this is not in relation to any question related to his upcoming role as Fred Hampton. I understand the sentiment especially when you're doing a job or have a specific talent and that is your passion but people want to focus on shyt not related to, acting, his job. I agree if he was doing a press tour for the Fred Hampton movie specifically and said this it would be very stupid because in that context, its a race-focused movie. You have to expect that But even in America to answer @Stacker Pentecost without doing a bunch of post responding to everyone, he has non-race specific roles in the US though not as big as Get out and Black Panther (Widows, Sicario) but yeah most of his roles not centered on race were in the UK.

If he felt this way, and the Fred Hampton picture hadn't finished filming (listed as post-production on IMDB) I guess I would agree if it bothers him so much he should pull out of that to minimize his headaches though at the same time, when you're trying to make it in the US and roles are probably already hard to come back as a black man, it would be very hard to give up that paycheck on ideological grounds, especially when you're the star. :lolbron:

black americans just built different. :manny: There's a reason why the people "bored of talking about race" ran to the country where us "militants" put in work and not the other way around.

Why do this though? We have tons of c00ns amongst up. Ones that say way worse shyt that Daniel just said.

and we are probably the only group that addresses our own c00ns. :manny: Where are his people to call him out on this bullshyt? Why are we always tasked with being the "buzzkill" of the diaspora? Like I said, he's bored with race...and if there are more people like him then it explains why they lazy asses refuse to build a black brit movie scene over there. Muhfukkaz wanna be here for the fun black shyt and getting checks pretending to be us, but when it comes time for the "maintenance" work of it all...he's :hubie:"I just happen to be black"

He has definitely done other roles (I actually saw him in Black Mirror first before anything else) but I think at this point in the US most people know him from 1. Get Out, 2. Black Panther, 3. Queen & Slim which are all large scale race-based roles. Now add on upcoming Fred Hampton movie and even tho he HAS done ‘other’ roles, most people here in America know him as ‘the race guy.’ If he feels he is being typecast he should stop taking those roles (esp when people are already vocal about not liking him in those roles in the first place)... if he doesn’t want to stop because he wants the check :manny: then why complain publicly about not wanting to talk about race anymore? You don’t want to talk about race anymore & people don’t even want you in these roles EITHER but you’re doing it anyway strictly for a check? Seems like playing both sides of the field while complaining & if that’s how you’re gonna play it... it rubs folks the wrong way.

When he gets his wake-up call and is no longer riding off the heels of Get out, with nothing but his mediocre acting and drab, unintersting personilty.....will he re-visit race?:jbhmm:
