People are sleeping on that. The writers strike made QoS a nightmare where Craig himself had to help finish the script, and then MGM went bankrupt when they were trying to put together Skyfall. Not to mention, there is only so much time you can be physically and emotionally investment into something so demanding.

Why focus on the fact he hasn't done any other movies between Skyfall/Spectre when he did 5 between Casino Royale and QoS, and six between QoS and Skyfall?

Maybe the 11 non-bond movies put a little bit of food on his plate, too

And the pre-production for Skyfall lasted like 3 years with MGM's money problems. Sony, MGM, and Dreamworks had to work out a deal that freed him up to even do Dragon Tattoo
