So we're gonna act like Lopez didn't average 20ppg this season:skip:?. The Lakers just got a quality big that can drop buckets and nikkas are still complaining.

Lonzo
George
Ingram
Randle
Lopez.

3 of these guys can give you 20 a night...
Who is the 3rd?

people still trying to act like the mozgov contract was some doomsday weapon that had to be moved before draft night :dead:

It didn't need to be moved before draft night but it needed to be moved so what's the problem?

Are we still assuming that his contract could have been moved next year or the year after?

Expiring contracts don't mean shyt in this CBA. Especially with the Warriors running the show, it only helps the Lakers because

A) They needed cap space for next season

B) Players want to play in LA

It wouldn't help a team like the Bobcats for example because no one really wants to play in Charlotte.

:russell:

Lonzo and Russell could've been amazing and you'd never know

also, Boston could easily offer a better deal than LA - and people get comfortable real quick when its obvious they get a few million more to settle down

thought yal would've learned to not to gamble everything on free agency and trades after dwight and nash hit LA with the airbnb :mjpls:

It did.....

Before the trade the Lakers couldn't have signed Paul George to the Lakers via free agency. It would have been that much harder to move that contract next summer.

Now because they'll have that cap space, it makes other teams more hesitant to trade for Paul George, so if the Lakers decide to trade for him they can lowball the Pacers, or they can just wait things out and sign him as a free agent next summer.

how many other teams you see trading their best young player in a salary dump? :jbhmm:

The current front office and coaching staff don't see him as they're best young player, which is why he was never considered "untouchable".

And how else were they going to dump the Mozgov contract and gain a pick to give them more flexibility? You really think a team was going to take Randle or Clarkson along with Mozgov?

People are being emotional and illogical when it comes to this trade. They had to dump the Mozgov contract no matter how you slice it and the only way they could have done that was by giving something up. Randle and Clarkson aren't as valuable as trade pieces, the #2 pick and Ingram are untouchable (and for good reason). If they sent other draft picks to Brooklyn they'd have given up that much more flexibility in terms of pulling off a trade.

And it's not a salary dump just for the sake of a salary dump. It's a salary dump to attain a top 15 player that has outright told the league he'll be joining the Lakers in 2018.

Again, what other team do you see selling 15/5 SOLID shooters before their third year off as a salary dump?

a salary dump is a salary dump - no need to try and gas it up

much MUCH worse contracts have been moved and will be moved in the future. shyt, if LA was going full win-now mode - then they could've sold off their future picks like any reasonable team would. and don't even front like brookyln would ONLY take russell. brooklyn had been trying to move lopez for the past 3 seasons. they would've taken zubac and been damned happy about it too

even if you do land paul george, you're gonna be looking for shooters anyways :dead:

you aint gotta defend stupid fukking deals just because its your team

do yal defend the nash shyt? why defend this

MAGIC BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE...REMEMBER, SHOWTIME LAKERS HAD TO TRADE NORM NIXON TO MAKE ROOM FOR MAGIC AS THE LEADER OF THE TEAM. AND NORM NIXON WAS A PRIME ALL-STAR WHO HELPED LAKERS WIN 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS AT THAT POINT. SOMETIMES, IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT HOARDING TALENT AS MUCH AS IT IS ABOUT BUILDING A TEAM.

1) lakers already had magic - and were working to establish a chemistry between him and kareem
2) lakers got byron scott in the deal (who was a top 5 pick i think)

kinda not the same situation
