Exactly. Guns and violence have been a pillar of the United Stated since day 1. Guns killed off the native americans, the Spanish-American war, Civil War, all the Italian Mafia gun violence in the 1920s-1980s, the thousands of documented incidents of white dudes goin off on shooting rampages, killing dozens of people at at time? I'm talking about renowned social theorists like Hinton Rowan Helper who said the Irish and Italians can be brought into the fold of assimilating. Men like him who had impact on how race was spoken about in this country. Men like him who highlighted Irish and Italians as possibly being assimilated by comparing them to blacks whose "crime stained blackness could not rise to the plane any higher than that of base beast like savagery."
