If you believe what you just wrote, then never watch the show, Max was and is still horrible ... he is a goalpost changer so who wants to debate somebody like that and him and Stephen A never had chemistry.. if you watch Stephen A with the cast now they chemistry is there him and Mad dog have had more better segments then him and Max did throughout the multiple years they were together, and so do him and Irvin ..
I honestly haven’t heard much from or about Max since he left First Take. Do people still care about him?

He’s not wrong.

First take has ruined sports talk and those two are to be blamed. They create false narratives out of thin air to kill tv time and twitter only helps enhance their nonsense
They have also destroyed basketball discourse.

And Skipper brought on Pablo, Mina Kimes, Izzy, Lebatard, Bomani, and others sports journalist/content creators fans swear give them the content they want. Yet, they don’t watch it and constantly complain when those folks are on their screen. But they’ll tune in for First Take or repost on SM the dumb discussions from the show.
People look for Skip, Shannon, or SAS’s posts or opinions right after games. That’s why other so called sports journalists be on some “look at me” type stuff posting anything to get noticed. People get mad at Stephen A. and them when they can just watch the more serious journalists. If 15 people complain about debate journalists but none of them watch the serious journalists, what does that tell you?

Ultimately, this shyt is just sports. It's entertainment. SAS and Skip only made it popular to talk about like we did in the public.

I think this type of discourse is far worse for politics but that's a totally different story.
They made dumb ass takes popular.

SAS didn’t ever deny that he helped ruin sports journalism, he just was mad that Dan is acting like he wasn’t part of it too :sas2:

Something weird is happening. ESPN is busy making SAS a star.

But PTI is ESPN's highest rated studio show and it stars two actual sports journalists. There is a market for serious sports discussion but they aren't trending that way.

It's what the people want :manny:
Sadly this is the truth.

Outside of an actual game i dont even watch ESPN content anymore because its all hot take bs. Entire network went to shyt.

And the real problem is that FIRST TAKE specifically is too fukking long. Its not even enough to talk about everyday for 2+ hours. So they have to fluff with the trolling/BS. At least PTI is 30 mins with very quick hitters

Bruh, they really don't. ESPN is on in the mornings on the days I go into the office, and Get Up/First Take is a ROUGH four hours. They legit don't have enough content for five live days of shows. First Take routinely recycles content on days, and just changes the shytty pun they use in the topic bar at the top of the screen. Get Up doesn't even bother to switch shyt up. There have been multiple times when I've looked up, seen the same text on the bottom third of the screen for a subject from the day before, assumed they were somehow running a replay, and then noticed that it wasn't, they really just decided to discuss the exact same shyt in almost the exact same way, with maybe one different person on set. :dead:

Dan kinda of realized that he was part of the problem at ESPN on his show yesterday. Stu Gotz and BIlly told him that he did the same thing he accused SAS of doing with HQ and PTI when he hosted. Dan said he made fun of sports on the shows but Stu replied that even though he tried to make fun of it, Dan still ended up giving a real take. Dan begrudgingly agreed and said he realized he had a blind spot when it comes to HQ.

In regards to the Get Up/ FT four hour block I don't think they rely on folks to watch all 4 hours. Its great if you do but they probably have metrics that people pop in and out during that 4 hours like for example I won't be able to watch at 10AM but I'll catch it at 11AM where they will redo that top story of the day. When you walk through airports its CNN and ESPN on every TV and they both reset stories every hour unless its something really big and they stay on that one story.

I hate that dan le batard and their ilk think journalism is the default for sports coverage. Its a game at the end of the day. its for entertainment have fun with it. stop taking shyt so serious.
This has been going on since the beginning so people are used to it but if you think about it objectively its kinda goofy.
Youtubers who cover video games are make reactions to tv shows are doing the same thing, but nobody take them serious as journalist because people understand its just hobbys and fandom.
these journalists, they take themselves too serious. its why i will always enjoy kenny ernie and chuck over anything at espn.
I hate that networks like ESPN claim They are sports news and they aren’t real news. That’s a bigger issue.

They are an entertainment network in a field where fans once came to real sports reporters for granular insights of the game. people like Stephen A Smith need to stop calling themselves journalists because they aren’t. They are just “i said it first” purveyors of op ed trash that a halfway smart person can tear down.

Half of the sports talk many of you engage in here is is pretend sports talk anyway. 99% of you don’t even watch the games and players that speak so hard on (pause). Neither do they. Yet what we see is many of yall replicating the bullshyt fake sports talk banter , thinking keeping up and repeating that fake sports talk is real sports talk.

It’s trash.

Anyway, I’ve been talking about this for years. It’s all garbage.

Stugotz revealed on the radio with Dan sometime ago that Highly Questionable pulled the same ratings as FT and that's with that show being on at 4:30 in the afternoon.

I really think people overrate how big that show is. shyt is more a sideshow (a circus) than it is an actual good hit show.

Get up is the only ESPN show I occasionally watch or listen to

fukk him and his mama

He still engaged in Entertainment and debate. Doesn’t matter if it was “fun” or not. SAS and Skip had “fun” numerous times laughing at each other’s opinions and SAS and Perkins do the same shyt.

Its barbershop talk put on television, thats ALL it is. And Stephen A Smith wasn’t even the first one to utilize the sports debate platform ON ESPN

Le Batard is either jealous of SAS cracking the code and maximizing its potential to become a star OR he’s a hypocrite.

Either way fukk him and his senile ass dad. SI! SI!!!
Highly Questionable was not a debate format show.

Viewership in the afternoon hours will almost always be higher than morning as people aren’t watching TV while at work, so it makes total sense that PTI viewership would be higher.

It’s not really a comparison tbh
