My granddad also said there was a very strict discrimination policy. Black soldiers were over here, white soldiers were over there. The main interactions were with white officers telling them shyt. He said the only time the black and white soldiers had any type of real interaction was when they learned FDR had died. He said the entire camp busted out crying, blacks and whites.
My grandad talked a LOT of shyt about white people, and understandably so. The only white people I ever heard him always dap were FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt.
