DC’s shown he has power he’s an elite wrestler but he has knockout power and dropped Stipe in their first match up.
Jake Paul has been in combat sports for a relatively short period of time and is ok at best, if DC was boxing a Canelo for example I’d obviously take Canelo easily despite DC’s size advantage it’s just an example don’t laugh at the match up. Jake Paul has proved he can box but this is a former world champion and a veteran in combat sports he didn’t retire that long ago, Ben Askrens striking has always been poor and has never been dominant in the UFC.
To keep it a stack, DC has punching power but that doesn’t necessarily mean high level boxing ability. The first fight ended in a punch knockout, but it was from a right hook that opened up from wrestling with him in the clench. That fight ended quickly, and DC boxed sloppily and recklessly in all the other Stipe fights.
In the second fight, DC was piecing him up, but by literally walking straight forward like a zombie with his arms stretched out, grabbing Stipe’s hands and moving them out the way to open up shots, while choosing to eat whatever shots he gets hit with in the process. His corner was fussing at him because of it because he went rogue from the game plan and wasn’t using technique. Then when Stipe decided to box him up to the body DC didn’t have an answer for it.
I have no idea how DC would do in a boxing ring, but there’s so much nuance that MMA guys don’t pick up on that doesn’t and won’t get exposed until they go against someone whose 10,000 hours were strictly put into boxing footwork, timing, technique and psychology.
