Seems like it's even worse, independently raping the culture.cause he's independent
Co-sign everything except the last comment, lawyers often advice their clients on how to proceed. I'm guessing that ODB's estate aren't some rocket scientists so as usual they probably trust their lawyer.http://theurbandaily.com/2010/10/30/jam-master-jay-was-lyor-cohens-first-teacher/
If Dame didnt have them then he would just show it. ODB's estate thinks it's in the belongings that were confiscated from Dame's old place:
And dame is blaming the lawyers, and not the estate. He's trying to deflect again. Lawyers don't do shyt unless their clients want them to
Is the reason Lyor hasn't replied to these allegations because he refuses to talk about it when asked by hip hop journalists? Or, are hip hop journalists not even pursuing interviews with him? I wonder ...
this is LYOR....dude....
he doesn't RESPOND to shyt.............he is too busy finding new urban brands to pillage and exploit....
plus Dame's allegations are just a drop in a bucket of the plethora of complaints about the "Meyer Lansky" of the rap industry going back to the early 90's....
much ado about nothing![]()
Check that title out, my brotha. And that was back when Lyor had WAY more corporate power than he does now. But, he responded because there was pressure from a GROUP of people demanding answers. Now, obviously Dame doesn't have stans like Lupe(and rightly so may I add) but these so-called "journalists" in hip hop aren't going to say, "Hmm, Dame is speaking with a lot of passion about this, let me see if I can at least get a quote from Lyor and see if he wants an opportunity to clear his name."
Hip hop "journalists" and radio personalities are quick to call other black men and women donkeys and thots but when it comes to someone like Lyor Cohen they become eunuchs. I don't necessarily agree with Dame's execution of trying to get answers nor would I ever deny that he comes off as bitter, but he does raise a lot of good points. You're telling me Lyor Cohen at the height of his powers and influence was willing to go outside with a boombox and defend himself to Lupe fans but today, when his resources are much lower, he won't deign to grant an interview to the likes of The Breakfast Club, Combat, Hot 97, etc?
I'm pretty sure he would if he were ever asked. I could see @CombatJack having him on the show. That is, if he wants to interview him.

DUDE......lyor MADE A MOCKERY OF THAT "PROTEST"...that ain't NO DAMN RESPONSE
that Cryptic politically correct statement he gave was to just appease those overzealous "fans"
he just liked the fact that their was actually a buzz being created on controversy surrounding Lupe's issue with Lyor and Atlantic at the time...
dude Lyor still tried to get Lupe to renegotiate his deal and take that 360...HE GIVES ZERO FUKKS...
his list of offenses against credible hip hop artists is HORRENDOUS...as DAME says.."it's like MOLESTING A CHILD"
and his record is longer than most career criminals going back to the fukking 80's son!! and HE NEVER RESPONDED TO THESE "CRIMES"!
*helped the Franceze crime family extend their oppressive Priorty Records deal which kept RUN DMC from ever coming to Def Jam or being protected by the intrests of Run's brother Russell.....
*influenced Russell into creating the Rush Management division which was the biggest most historical conflict of intrest music management deal in hip hop history....
Rush Management was basically an extension of Def Jam managing Def Jam artists as well as controlling various deejays such as DJ Chuck Chillout of Kiss fm whom help push many Def jam acts i.e (P.E, LL COOL J and others) in violation of FCC guidelines and payola statues
*caused the internal and eternal rift that separated longtime friends and founders Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin , by making Rubin seem irrelevant and outdated in terms of conducting the business affairs and creativity of the def jam brand i.e (artistic development was officially DEAD when Lyor had his way)
*disrespected Chuck D. by having Def Jam BLOCK Public Enemy from releasing their album on the net, inspite of P.E not being sought to renew their contract and lack of DEF JAM support for PE's latter releases...
and as far as his resources are MUCH LOWER......
dude please ....LYOR left with a hefty SEVERANCE PAY AND PACKAGE when he dipped from ATLANTIC....
he had enough capital and investment to start his OWN label .....300 with his c00n patna in crime Kevin Liles
"he DROPPED the label ..the label DIDN'T DROP HIM"
he is MORE POWERFUL THEN EVER........and im not caping for dude
this dude gets damn their six figures for speaking engagements to gloat about being the creator of the 360 deal
and teaching game about how to SCREW YOUR FAVORITE RAPPER OVER....
giving responses to DAME or YOU is the last thing on his mind..........he don't fear those guys.....
the only ones LYOR answer to are the BUSINESS ENTERTAINMENT DEITIES like DOUG MORRIS and IRVING AZOFF.....
you know Dame might be right as far as Combat in regards to his flawed contract negotiations...
Combat apologized to NORE for fukking up by letting PENALTY recordings control their publishing..............
which is suspect..considering every Entertainment Lawer should know the importance of protecting the publishing rights for their client
Too bad hiphop fans cant rally together and demand answers from these execs huh:sas:? nikkas would rather talk about Dame bein a azz distracting us from the still very real problems on some decoy shyt![]()
Hes like Lyor I still haven't heard from you like Lyor is gonna respond to this shyt. Anyone making money in the industry is not gonna work or support Dame.
My guess. Is the reason Lyor hasn't replied to these allegations because he refuses to talk about it when asked by hip hop journalists? Or, are hip hop journalists not even pursuing interviews with him? I wonder ...
Oh, trust me, we're in complete agreement there. But, your man Lyor LOVES the spotlight. The fact that he even went out there shows his ego got the best of him, PC responses or not. He even had his own version of the Ultimate Hustler reality show.
Jimmy Iovine would've never even gone down there. So, Lyor isn't untouchable like Doug Morris. If Complex, Power 105, Hot 97, The Source, etc. were all trying to get a statement from him in the wake of Dame's constant accusations, he'd at least give a brief, written statement. My whole point, and I'm sure you'd agree with me, is that our journalists obviously aren't interested in putting any kind of pressure on him to respond. They're not built like that.
But like really mane...
WHAT DOES A STATEMENT FROM LYOR COHEN ACCOMPLISH???
I WANT RESULTS!!!
and YOU AIN'T GONNA GET THAT FROM LYOR...shyt has not only stayed the same IT'S GOTTEN WORST
do you fuking realize as Dame says HE IS THE ARCHITECT OF WHAT COULD BE CONSIDERED THE "MAGNA CARTA" of bad record deals
THE 360!!!
HE DON'T GIVE A RAT'S A$$ ABOUT EXPLAINING A GOTTDAMN THING TO ANY OF US NEGROES.....
AND IF HE DID EXPLAIN SHYT..IT'S GONNA BE THE SAME RHETORIC HE FED TO DAME, IRV, JMJ, LUPE and countless other ARTISTS AND MOGULS he fukked over!!
waiting for LYOR to explain his crimes is like waiting to ask some racist cop why he fukked u over..or the slave asking the slave master why he OPPRESSED HIM
MANE IF YOU WANT RESULTS ..YOU NEED TO CREATE RESULTS
we gotta stop having rallies and townhall meetings and dialogue with WHITE PEOPLE WHO CLEARLY ARE CONSCIOUS OF THE FUKKERY THEY DO TO YOU
fukk talking ..MAKE SOME ACTION!!!
in the form of being YOUR OWN MAN..BUSINESS MAN......
I did my part by forming an indy station two years ago on the internet giving airplay to unsigned artists and having dialogue about shyt that ain't discussed in the mainstream media with NO FILTER (uncensored)
so FUKK WAITING ON A EXPLANATION from "MR CHARLIE " aka the GLORIOUS WHITE MAN
WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT...TO COUNTERACT THESE "CULTURE VULTURES" and EXPLOITATION....
till u doing something I DON'T WANNA HEAR SHYT YOU GOT TO SAY.....bruh
My guess.
1. Dame isn't a credible figure in entertainment anymore
2. He inconsistently attacks people for various reasons.
3. Dame has not said anything factual that these people or anyone else who's semi-down with what's going on already knew.
4. 90% of what he says is his personal beef with people, why the hell would magazines waste peoples time and bring up the 10 year old Roc-a-fella separation or stupid questions like why executives don't squash beefs between gangster rappers. Or as mentioned, ask personal questions such as why Kanye West doesn't donate money to former millionaire criminals that signed him.
5. Magazines/blogs depend on labels, I can't see why they would jump on Dame's band wagon and start beef with people cause he says they did some things to him.
He's talking shyt about the business as a whole, saying that execs don't care, that they are making money of peoples misery and whatnot. As if these executives put a gun to rappers heads, forced them to take the money, forced them to put out music on their labels and on.
6. Nobody likes him, he likes nobody.
If he wrote a detailed book and aired out everything, not just the people that played the game better than he could and outclassed him. But everything he's seen and he acquires the ghostwriting services of someone who can keep a consistent approach, who can refrain from dissing people who have regular jobs and don't own companies, where he gets some feedback from cats who aren't yes men (or people who share the same passionate hate for the corporate world etc.. Now that would be interesting and could probably make some real noise..
This shyt is more like entertainment.
