Yup. Dame's advice would have sounded crazy 20 even 10 years ago but this is the era of crowdfunding and independant creators. There are multi-million dollar crowdfunding campaigns out here. Keanu Reeves raised 1.4 million for a comic book:. Like you said Jonathan Majors with his brand and his connections could easily raise a few mil for and independant movie. Get Out only cost 4 mill to make and made over 250 mill. The only thing is a lot of actors's egos couldn't handle the fact that they went from Hollywood blockbusters to Independent films.

No, it's not. And most actors at some point write or direct their own movies. This idea that you can only do one thing and you have to have the machine behind you is archaic and retarded. Its ok to doubt people. If you would've told me Tyler Perry would have his own studio, Ida doubted you. If you told me 50 cent would go on to make a bunch of successful tv shows, Ida laughed. If you told me Michael b Jordan would be directing creed 3 and more....Ida laughed.

You still need distribution. Who's distributing Jonathan Majors right now? No majors, no pun, are picking up his projects. And no one buys dvds or blu-ray anymore.

In theory, Dame is not wrong. But everything is circumstantial. And Dame is the epitome of placing a square peg in a round hole. It's exactly why he's not relevant any longer despite being one of the more successful music executives of the last 30 years.

JM needs to lay low and wait. There's nothing he can do right now.
