As a Rocafella diehard man they are wrong from MULTIPLE fronts

1- Beans has a dozen Jay features :what: Free’s most popular song to this day is What We do. He also laced post-break up Free on Big Spenders. Featured on Amil album. :gucci: Various Bleek records and gave away one of his best songs to open Bleek’s album w/ Dear summer

Gave Young Gunz a feature and extra verse—-on a song they’re eulogizing their dead’s man’s. Put Sparks on a feature for one of his biggest singles ever. Went back n forth with Cam on his debut roc album. 2 verses on Kanye’s debut album. But….

2- Bc it’s Jay, nggas gon hate either way it go. If jay jump on a track and it hit, they gon say jay hopping on that artists’ wave. If he put them on his own song, he using them. And if a song DONT blow, they don’t even count it. Even if it’s artistically brilliant (ie Still Got Love). That’s kinda alluded to when jay said ‘I’m still an artist’. Meaning, he’s fukking jay z. He’s not trying to water down his brand by making forced singles 24/7. Big Spender was trash. Ngga Please with Young Chris is a catchy neptunes beat full Pharrell hook …it just didn’t catch! He can’t MAKE shyt pop. But let them and yall tell it, it’s Jay fault that fresh outta jail grimy Oschino didnt become the next rap superstar :beli:

Came to say all of this. I think maybe the problem is Dame is comparing Jay to artist of the past who FORCED they homeboys on us whether they were talented or not:mjlol:

Difference is,obviously Jay was not homeboys with most of those dudes outside of Bleek obviously. And when he said "hes an artist",he probably meant he didnt want the likes of Bleek all over his album. But he still gave them Roc La Familia,so we cant even say that. Jay wasnt obligated to push them dudes like The Outlawz,or how Cam was with Dipset. But Id say he played a MAJOR role,in marketing the brand of Rocafella. Where repping that alone gave you credibility. Jay definitely did enough, even if you can argue he couldve done more. Other than putting people on those bonafied hits, and his lead singles I dont see what. Would Sigel have fit on most of Jays singles:patrice:?

Dude really wants to go down as the most bitter person in hip-hop history

That “make another Hov” line will haunt him forever

Of course its "haunting". He's blackballed from the music industry and Jay knows that :unimpressed:

As Oschino said, watching 50 cents be hands on with his artist with everything from being on their lead single (Banks. Buck, Game, Yayo) including the video, and doing everything he could to ensure his success left them bitter as to why Jay wasnt doing that for them (outside of Freeway).

Meanwhile, he took Oschino & Sparks song and made his biggest record at the time, and stole Young Chris flow

On the flip side, 50 has complained about some of his artists, Lloyd banks in particular, for being lazy and complacent.

There are pros and cons to both being super hands on like 50 and the lead by example approach Jay took.

but he ultimately made their initial efforts successful, which benefited his artist and him. As he once said on wax, "Banks shyt sell, Buck shyt sell, Game shyt sell, I'm rich as hell". No matter what happened 10 years down the line, no one can argue he didnt market his artist correctly, which Jay is accused of not doing

Outside of Kanye, who had his own energy, the 'Big Homie" from afar marketing technique didnt really pan out for anyone to great lengths

He aint lying. Jay buried many a def jam artist that was from his era. He gets props for his successes and his failures are ignored

And not for nothing. Guy interviewing confirmed exactly what dame said as he eas an a&r said he asked jay himself and jay just said he dont wanna get on records with them. He coulda helped and didnt. He didnt wan risk his name on a potential failure. He was always the “sure thing” guy.

But dont let me distract you from the 1000th dame is bitter thread.

If you gon fault Jay for the washed up artist that got left behind on Def Jam then you have to give Jay credit for the rising talent at that time. Jeezy, Ross, Rhianna, Neo which were all highly successful. Can’t have it both ways.

I bought The Truth in part because Jay-Z’s Anything was the last track. I was a broke high school student so I didn’t have a lot of extra money to spend. The inclusion of that track pushed me to buy the album which made me a Beanie fan. I don’t know if Jay was responsible for including that track but I always thought that was a dope marketing idea to get people to pay attention to other artists on the label by capitalizing off the popularity/brand/buzz of the label’s biggest artist. Not saying Rocafella was the only label doing it but Jay had to buy in at some level for that to work.

Probably referring to the 4,3,2,1 crew ( LL, Meth, Red, X) , Probably Ghost too All them nikkas budgets got bushed because he was coming out of retirement. Plus Kanye, Ross, Jeezy, RiRi and Neyo became new faces
They were all washed though.

Bleek - 2 Gold albums
Beanie Sigel - 1 Gold Album
DJ Clue - 1 Platinum, and 2 Gold albums

Dude appeared all over the above albums, and in videos for them. He did the same for other artists who didn’t sell as much such as Freeway (Gold assisted single), Young Gunz, and Amil. He also took them on tour with him, and featured them on his multi platinum albums and singles.

That doesn’t look like marketing from afar at all.

Crab shyt. And I fw Oschino but this is a classic case of someone who could never be in Jay’s position, trying to tell people what they would do and how easy it is.

Yea, Jay didn’t use the 50 approach. But Jay ain’t 50. Jay didn’t get on by name dropping the industry. Jay didn’t get on by getting shot 9 times. Jay didn’t get on by leeching onto the bigger artist and beefing. So 50’s approach is 50’s approach that’s not gonna work for everyone.

But the double standards tho :scust:Where is Nature, where Jungle, where is Cormega. Why didn’t Lil Cease become the next big star. Yall never apply these standards to other artists. And that was they man’s from the same block. Jay just SIGNED these nggas :gucci:

Lastly jay did the same formula of jumping on features for other artists and it DID work: Rihanna w/ Umbrella, Pharrell got a deal off Frontin :mjtf: Jay can’t control what the public goes toward. Like I don’t care how many singles he hop on Neef Buck was never gonna make it ngga

50 Cent is an anomaly. An artist/exec/master marketer is exceedingly rare to the point of being irrelevant to comparison

And everything you're blaming Jay for was Dame's job
