Honestly, while Tiago is decent, he hasn't played that well for us. He's still getting used of the system. Our is a lot of player and ball movement, even more than SA. Once he gets it, I expect impact and that should change our fortune.
He still hasn't stop physical players from dominating the paint. Maybe Taveres is the answer there but he's not ready offensively and he'll prolly commit a lot of fouls if he played right now.

Thabo is not a liability offensively. Hell, we probably cause more turnovers with him on the court leading to easier buckets. He is a better passer than demarre and his shot isnt broke.

You also probably haven't seen holiday play or bazemore's improvement. How about the fact we have a legit center with post moves in splitter as opposed to pero who cant grab rebounds and hangs out at the perimeter. Watch them tonight breh, this team is better than last
That..I will do :salute:

I hope we're better man...I hope so. I don't get my hopes up about ATL/GA sports...hearts been hurt too much man.

What they did to the Braves :to:

Teague needs to go to that next level (elite PG) and Shroeder needs to channel Manu...then we're on to something. Otherwise, I think we're kidding ourselves with those two choices on the poll.:francis:

What numbers are elite level pg numbers?

Dennis shot is getting better and better but I disagree with him needing to be Manu, I think Dennis just needs to be Dennis.

If someone if gonna channel their inner "Manu", that should be coming from Patterson, Hardaway Jr, or Holiday as they'll be the subs at SG.

Honestly..I can give a fukk about "numbers"

...against good teams, and in the playoffs can he carry us? Can he make plays down the stretch consistently?

Reason I say Manu is obvious (Bud's background with the Spurs...the fact that both can play the one...). I think it's very telling that when Korver is resting...Teague and Dennis are starting together, not the other "SGs"

It's early on...say maybe Coach Bud is seeing what works :yeshrug:

I can't believe y'all giving Cleveland all of this respect, smdh. The Hawks had 3 deadly flaws last year...

1. Thabo went down. I said in the thread last year that his injury would end up being the killer vs Cleveland. Also, the Hawks were never the same during the year once he went down.

2. Our only big off the bench was Pero Antic. We were destined to get killed on the boards with him in there.

3. Youth. Bazemore, Dennis, Muscala, Scott, all had to play major roles in a situation they probably weren't prepared for.

Now, fast-forward to this year.

Thabo is back and looking great. Bazemore has another year experience and prepared all summer for his upcoming role. He has every tool needed to be better than Demarre (I can't wait to see how far he's grown by the end of the season).

Splitter already is better than Pero/Brand combined last year, offensively and defensively. Muscala is a year older and those two combined can provide length needed to disrupt defenses and battle the boards. Then you have Edy. By the end of the year, you will be able to put him into spot situations where his length along will cause teams issues.

Hawks now have quality experience everywhere starting from the starters throughout the bench and Splitter and Holliday have Championship experience, don't sleep.

Also I'm not looking for the Hawks to win every rebounding battle. They won't off the strength of the way the system is designed. Bud doesn't want them to battle the offensive glass, he preaches for them to get back on Defense to cut down transition points.

The question you all have to ask is How Many Second Chance Points/Opportunities Are The Hawks Allowing On Defense This Year As Opposed To Last Year? That's what killed us vs Brooklyn, Washington, Cleveland.

I bet y'all haven't peeped the adjustment Korver's made in his game neither

What adjustments did Killa make?I see him dribbling and shooting more twos. Vs straight pick and 3s?

That's exactly it. He's be working on creating his own shot and taking a lot more shots inside the perimeter. It will be interesting to see how that change offset what teams will try to do to him come playoff time.

He had that bank shot that I can tell he's been learning from Teague

Problem in the offs was more that the games slowed down and other teams made more of an effort to not let go certain players off, and making secondary options like DeMarre or Dennis beat them.

Not being able to keep up the pace that they play during the reg season

Game is also called differently, and the Hawks would had to play out of their goddamn minds to not even give the refs a chance to cheat because you know they ain't trying to see a non superstar team in the finals. LeBron in the finals is a good look for the league, business-wise, period.

Ain't gonna lie though, that game vs. NO was amazing basketball at times, and on par with our best efforts last season with lots of room for improvement still

No question IMO we have the quality to get that #1 seed again

Of course the ATL
That was literally cause and effect.

Cause: 2 finesse players in Kyrie and Love got hurt

Effect: 2 physical players in Dellevedova and Thompson replaced them

You simply cannot logically argue both points man. Their physicality is what beat us. If they weren't injured, they wouldn't have played such physical ball, and we would've won at least two games. "They were injured too" is simply a bad argument.

Which proves my point even more. Cavs were able to impose their will and beat us with a more physical style from their backups. They would've beat us with a healthy Kyrie & Love in a more finesse style as well. My whole point with the injuries is that both teams had injuries that changed how we played that series but they were able to adapt and we weren't. Their were many things that beat us in that series but them being more physical was something that stood out to me and this team as currently constructed is not built to beat a physical CLE team in a 7 game series

Breh CLE is getting the respect b/c they beat our ass. We got swept. Outside of 1 maybe 2 games it wasn't really competitive. I agree with your bulleted points but man that series proved we have further to go just to compete with them at a championship level. I do think this team will be better this yr even if we don't win 60 and I think this roster is overall more talented and seasoned than last year's too, but I still don't see this team beating CLE in the playoffs.

For the record, my expectation this yr is getting back to the ECF and being competitive there...I fully expect CLE to be there
