Russell's game is hitting cutters, roll men, catch and shoot 3s, and pull ups/floaters off ball screens. He will do better with more structure. He won't ever be as strong as Harden or Roy nor can he handle/shoot like Nash or Curry but why can't he be Manu? That said, Manny Mudiay should have went ahead of Russell. He doesn't shoot the 3 well but he looks better than Russell in PnR and doesn't need a ball screen to get to the rim, plus he has the strength to finish. Russell will look better in a screen heavy system with tons of ball screens, shooters and a big man who can finish, but his passing needs to be adjusted regardless, since its obvious he can't make those super flashy passes at this level.

Like @Malta said, they should move him off ball and put him on the left wing. Bringing the ball up court is a challenge for him because he has a high dribble, no right hand and slow feet.

But the point remains- when you draft a PG #2 overall, you are expecting

1.) A much better athlete
2.) A much quicker guard
3.) Someone who takes care of the ball

I expect he will get better at #3, but you dont take a PG top 3 that is lacking the first 2. And before someone says "bu bu bu Chris Paul aint that athletic!". CP has always had a respectable first step, not to mention that CP is a little more 'built' making him a better defender.

Give Me Kobe, Russell, Clarkson and Randle this year over your washed squad, next year everyone is off the books and we are ok. I wish we are worse then the 76ers this year because we keep our pick if its top3 but I dont see that happening, I would love it for them to tank, Get a top 3, give our 3 kids a year of playing time, Kobe an option to come back at a discount or retire.
