What are the minimum specs for RTX on PC though? Is a sub 1200 dollar pc capable of such feats?

Try again with DLSS 2.0. I’m almost positive you were using the previous version. Because the performance hit is damn near non existent with that enabled.Not to derail, but I played through an early chunk of that while I was waiting on PS5 and that gameplay is super fire even before the visualsI tried it when it came with the 2080ti and that ray tracing performance was just too poor for me, but once the frames are higher and consistent, I can see exactly how that could be a GOTY contender. I'm looking forward to finishing it sometime next yr
I think availability is more the hindrance than price if you want 3070 or 3080. That RT ultra system is probably close to 1200 without the monitor. The minimum for RT is easy sub 1200
That's what I did this time. When I was on the 2080ti 2.0 wasn't out yet, and I bounced off the game hard. This time I only put it down because the 5 came in

So I could get a rig with the 3080 under a stack and hook it up to my tv?
Altogether the system will probably run close to 1200 (probably a little more but could be less if you really hawk deals and buy the parts you need now instead of down the line) if you buy the parts and build it yourself:
3080 - $700
Chassis - 50-100
CPU/MOBO - ~400
RAM - ~75
PSU - ~75
That being said, 3080 availability is PS5 status

Even though a 3070 is supposedly recommended for 1440p RT Ultra, i think my 2080s should be good enough for it. If not i will tweak the settings or lose my willpower and get a 3080 from a scalper

Before you do that check out the RMA process for the manufacturer. Anything goes wrong, the manufacturer usually needs proof of purchase to accept it, or registration with them which usually needs proof of purchase. If you do end up RMA-ing and they need that info, you could at the mercy of the person you bought from, and if they ghost you, you probably just got a $1000 paperweight.

You not buying a 3080 at MSRP anymore. You might get a AIB card for $30-$150 more but I'm pretty sure the founders editions are gonna be taken off the shelves completely and your gonna be left with just partner cards and once the supply stabilizes I think the price of the brick going up.
I would just get one from eBay so if something happens i can return it.
