Riverdale has found its mayor.
Robin Givens has been cast in the recurring role of Mayor Sierra McCoy in
the CW’s Greg Berlanti-produced
Riverdale from WBTV.
Set in present day and based on the iconic Archie Comics characters,
Riverdale is a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.
McCoy is not only the powerful and fabulous Mayor of Riverdale, but also the mother of soon-to-be-world-famous Josie, of Josie & The p*ssycats fame. Chic and driven, Mayor McCoy is struggling to guide Riverdale through the crisis precipitated by the mysterious death of Jason Blossom, all while making sure the town’s upcoming 75th Jubilee Celebration goes off without a hitch. Givens’ character will be introduced in the second episode.
Givens most recently guest-starred on Fox’s
Lucifer. She’s repped by Pantheon.
Riverdale will premiere midseason on The CW.
