this thread is now about recreational marijuana in NYS and cuomo's role in it.
Wasn't the legalization suppose to help pay for MTA repairs?

"Gov. Cuomo made a risque joke about sexual harassment as reporters swarmed him outside his Capitol office.
“Space, we need space,” the Governor said to reporters who jockeyed to get in questions about the new legislative session. “I'll bring you up on charges under the Me Too movement." "
Yo that was a wild day
I used to think the same but nah, fukk the MTA. MTA doesn't deserve a penny more until it's completely restructured because they haven't shown an ounce of competency. Andy Byford looks like he knows what he's doing (or it just might be the British accent) but I doubt he'll be able to change how MTA operates. The amount of money they receive from the city is unbelievable and now they want to give them marijuana moneyThere's a really simple solution for all of this:
1. Legalize Recreational - All NYC taxes on it go towards NYC infrastructure
2. RAISE TAXES ON THE RICH AND WEALTHY
And fukk DeBlasio too, I'm done with this clown. A fukking trolley line for the Western side of Brooklyn, meanwhile East Flatbush and the surrounding areas are a fukking two fare zone. GTFOH
So basically they get a percentage of everything that's taxed and it's still not enough. Those city constituencies sent a total of $10.1 billion to the MTA in fiscal year 2014: $5.3 billion in fares and tolls and $4.8 billion in indirect fees like taxes, subsidies and debt service. Comptroller Scott Stringer said the latter amount equates to $130 per month per household before anyone steps onto a subway platform.
That "invisible fare," as Mr. Stringer calls it, includes the payroll mobility tax paid by most businesses in the MTA's service region, the $0.50 surcharge on taxi trips, sales tax, and contributions from the city's budget for the MTA's debt service, security and capital costs.
25 tax and subsidy streams already what do you think they will do with extra $1-2 billion from marijuana tax? Same as they've been doing with all other contributionsTo get a full picture of New York City’s total contribution to the MTA, the comptroller’s office said it conducted a "thorough examination" of the myriad payments to the MTA, including fares, tolls, and 25 tax and subsidy streams. Operating the MTA costs almost $14 billion a year, and its capital plan calls for $32 billion in spending over five years.
Exactly...I used to think the same but nah, fukk the MTA. MTA doesn't deserve a penny more until it's completely restructured because they haven't shown an ounce of competency. This was an article from 2015, where MTA announced they had a $14 billion gap in it's 5 year capital plan
What NYC pays the MTA (it's actually far more than the state does)
Exactly...
How many tax revenue streams you gon give this bottomless pit before you realize they stealing money...
The MTA is a criminal organization, mob union affiliated to the gills...
We don't need to give them more money, we need to put on Mueller case on them...
Full funding not there yet but they do have plans drawn up to have the 2nd ave subway come up to 125th street via the 4,5, &6 station. Several new stations on 2nd ave along the way ( I forget exactly where but from what i remember tunnels are already in places for those stations)De Blasio’s bus improvement plan calls for 25% increase in speeds by 2020
New $60M contract will bring delayed East Side Access closer to completion
thought they kinda gave up on this due to lack of funding
Hold on I wasn't paying attention for about a week
So you're telling me that after 3 years of research Cuomo just walked through the tunnel and said Fu*k That Sh*t
